I really have tried to fix this but:...
I have an experimental rig which I have to get right before I can unleash GBPVR on the family on the real thing (probably MVP based). GBPVR is certainly the best around but I cannot solve just one problem.
Files recorded through the recording service do not skip correctly on playback. What happens is that any attempt to do either short or long skips or an absolute reposition results in the hard disk light going full on as the player process just seeks through the entire file and then returns to the GBPVR menu after a few minutes (file is about 35 minutes long).
The set up is a 2GHz processor with 1GB memory. Hauppauge nova-t PCI and the recording is off UK Freeview (BBC1). Reception is perfect and the recording is perfect, at least visually and audibly.
Here are some other variables that I have tried:
1. This same file plays back perfectly in Nero6. It will seek happily both forwards and backwards.
2. It does not play happily in Media Player. It won't seek at all.
3. Nero6 correctly detects that it is 16:9 whilst neither GBPVR nor media player does. At least GBPVR allows you to switch.
4. If I record a file using WINTV2000 then GBPVR will play that and will skip short and long backwards and forwards with ease.
If I also take a file recorded via GBPVR and look at it with VideoRedo, that is able to skip backwards and forwards quite happily, also auto detecting that it is 16:9. If I get VideoRedo to save a new copy of the file, not only is the file about 25% smaller (Note that VideoRedo says that it does not re-encode!!), but the resulting file will play AND skip backwards and forwards in GBPVR.
So - I conclude that whoever is doing the recording in GBPVR is not quite getting it right! But I can't find an option that works. I have only the one bda muxer:
Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\WINDOWS\system32\MpgMux 3.0.07.05.ax
VERSION: 3.0.07.05
Any clues as to what I must tweak please.
If this is fixed then I can fill the house with GBPVR.
