I have a PVR2000 and I don't like the winfast software for time shifting.
I have searched the forums and it seems that PVR2000 is not yet supported by GBPVR.
Will it be anytime in the future?
If anyone knows of software that works well with the PVR2000 please let me know.

Cheers.

I have no plans to ever explicitly support the Winfast PVR2000 device, but I think some users had success getting it to go. It looked enough like a Hauppauge PVR250 that they were able to get it work by adding a new section to the direct.ini. It should be listed as a card option. You're welcome to try this.

The PvR2000 is fully supported it is part of the recording plugin. It's what I use.
I have the standard winfast drivers installed, and I didnt like the Winfast software either - although it gives a better picture than GBPVR - or any other non-native software.

when setting up your capture source, there should be a device under the selection for Leadtek Winfast PVR2000. I am sure this is what I am using to capture everything on my PVR.

I am pretty sure it used to exist on the old cpature card list. I'll get the detiails from my capturedefs file when I am at home and post them.

Thanks

My comment was more indicating I dont *actively support* this card, but it does work for some people since its based on the same design as the Hauppauge PVR250. If something isnt working with this card, you'll usually get me just shrugging my shoulders.

I see.

vynbos - I dont think you'll have any issues with this card at all. Download the latest drivers from Leadtek and you should be up and running.

(although the new drivers come with an updated version of Winfast PVR - so it makes the download quite large)

I would suggest you install WinDVD 7 so that you can use the intervideo decoders from there - they seemed to work the best with this card (or maybe it was only my setup, nvidia 9550 GFX card I think)

thanks sub and jonny for the input.
Not too sure what "adding a new section to the direct.ini. It should be listed as a card option" means, but i'll search the forum for answers.
GB-PVR lists only Hauppauge PVR350 and the Sigma Designs XCard as hardwared decoder devices.
Clicking the "video decoder settings" doesnt open a window.

Perhaps I expect too much from PVR technology: because i had a idea that i would be able to watch television so clear that one wouldn't know it was time-shifted, with the power to rewind, fast-forward, and to be able to say, "wow! that scene was cool/funny/informative, i'm going to save that."
with WinFast it seems that you either time-shift or record, but not both. Will GB-PVR give me this freedom?

I believe my Winfast software is current (30.10.79). i'll try the windvd 7 route.
thanks again.

Its already been added to direct.ini, so you wont need to do anything...just select your card type as 'PVR2000' when you set up your capture source.

This setting is not relevent to your hardware (which has a hardware ENcoder, not DEcoder), so should be set to 'none - use software decoder'.

GB-PVR gives you the option to be permanently in timeshift mode, which pretty much gives you what you describe, but it comes with the cost of slower channel changing due to the buffering requirements. Personally, I find fast channel changing to be a higher priority (I'm a channel surfer), so I stick to live preview mode.
