FFDShow Tryouts supported?

Hey all,

I'm trying to configure gbpvr to use ffdshow for scaling and I haven't had any luck yet. I'm using FFDShow Tryouts and don't even see ffdshow as an option under video decoders (although it shows up under audio decoders). I've configured FFDShow to support both MPEG2 (just to see if I could get it to show up under decoders) as well as RAW. I've also tried enabling and disabling "Use FFDShow post-processing if installed". I'm wondering if this issue is being caused by my use of FFDShow Tryouts rather than the older standard FFDShow.

Any help with this would be appreciated!

You should be able to use these ffdshow filters, but you may need to add the filter name to the <SupportedVideoDecoders> setting in config.xml to make sure it is found.

Sub,

Thanks for the info. I added "ffdshow Video Decoder" to the <SupportedDecoders> section of the XML and am now able to select ffdshow in the list of video decoders. I would, if possible, still like to experiment with using other decoders in combination with ffdshow scaling/processing but the "Use FFDShow post-processing if installed" option still doesn't seem to have any effect. Is it possible that the post-processing option is looking for ffdshow in some way that makes it incompatible with the ffdshow tryouts I'm using?

Thanks again,
Ryan

Yeah, they've quite likely changed the name of something in recent months stopping it working for post processing.

Yeah, now it seems to be called "ffdshow Video Decoder" .. or "ffdshow raw video filter".

I guess you had the old name of the decoder hardcoded.. short of a change from your end, is there something else we can do to make the post-processing get thrown in the filter chain again?

I just checked, and the most recent FFDShow Tryouts can still be used for post processing with GB-PVR. The reason its probably not working for you is because new versions of ffdshow come with a predefined list of applications to enable/disable ffdshow with. You need to explicitly go and add GB-PVR to the enabled listed before it can be used in GB-PVR.

No, I've unchecked that option, and ffdshow works with Media Player Classic and even GraphEdit, but it doesn't come into play with GB-PVR (using PVRX2, if that matters). I've tried having the FFDSHOW post-processing option checked and unchecked, but it still doesn't work.

What did you do in order to get it to work?

Its definitely working here. I've tried it on two machines.

You can probably achieve the same thing other ways, but I started GraphEdit, selected 'insert filter', and inserted the "ffdshow raw video filter" filter. Next I viewed the properties for the filter, went to the directshow control part. I made sure PVRX2.exe wasnt on the denied listed, then added it to the allowed list. After that it worked fine in PVRX2.

Still no luck.. I can only get it to work to postprocess some DivX files from the Video Library and that sort of thing.

It refuses to come up when watching TV (I only use timeshifted).. btw, lastgraph.grf doesn't get created anymore?

Post the logs and I'll take a look.
