I continue to have the strangest problems with 94.12.

Several days ago I was changing channels using the channel up/down function and after about a dozen channels the audio/video became very "choppy." After a few more channel changes the system rebooted by itself. It then went into the reboot loop where it boots, starts windows and appears to be starting GBPVR then reboots --- it repeats this process time after time. I've found that the only way to stop this is to start in Safe Mode, schedule chkdsk /f, restart, let chkdsk run and when the machine restarts everything is back to normal and GBPVR starts normally.

Last night I avoided using channel up/down adn changed channels by directly entering the channel numbers. After about a dozen channels the system reboots and goes into the reboot loop. Again, running chkdsk seems to clear it up and operation is OK.

These problems did not occur with the 92.xx release and other than the GBPVR release nothing else has changed (no new drivers, plug ins, etc.) I haven't seen other reports of anything like this so it doesn't look to be endemic in GB but rather unique to my system. The strange thing is that running chkdsk seems to clear up the immediate rebooting problem. But chkdsk never reports any errors, just running it is enough to get things straightened out. Defrag runs once a week in the early morning hours. The EPG update runs at about 5AM every morning and seems to work fine.

Just looking for ideas.

The defrag report from the weekly defrag generally reports very little fragmentation (1-2% or so). But I run the defrag anyway. And as I reported, even though the chkdsk is the only way to recover it never reports any problems. I could understand if chkdsk kept reporting orphans or index problems or something but it never reports any problems at all. Yet the reboot problem goes away after chkdsk :-)

I'm not using 94.13 because 94.12 has been such a pain the backside. I didn't see anything in the 94.13 release notes that indicated that it would be better. The best release I've seen so far was the last 92.xx release --- that one was very stable for me.

I suggest you go to 94.13 given that you are having problems. I recall sub indicated there were some fixes which may not have been spelt out.
You may actually be running 94.13 anyway as i think sub said he didn't intially change the version number within the software when he did the release.
I run defrag on all my drives every night regardless. I use Perfect Disk but there is also Disk Keeper. These are more effective than the ms defrag.
I also check the size of the gbpvr.mdb file and compact that from time to time. That may not be necessary these days but I do it regardless, especially when my channel changing stops working.

I also regularly compress the GBPVR.MDB file frequently. When performance becomes a real problem Ihave generally found the Database to have grown to 50MB or so. I compress and it drops back to about 12MB.

I'll try going to 94.13 and see if that makes any difference.

I've ran into indvidual glitches that only I seemed to have w/ some versions. I just went back to the last one that worked, and waited for the next one. One time I had to wait two versions to gtet back on track. It wasn't a big deal.
