I know this has been mentioned in the past but can find the thread. Am I right in thinking there is a six capture source limit?

What would happen if I added a seventh (would the config app. let me?) and disabled the channels on one of the existing ones temporarily to prevent it being used.

Basically I already have 6 (1x 350, 1x 500, 3x Nova-t) and I want to trial run a fourth Nova-t to see how it performs with 4 simultaneous DVB recordings. I want to change my setup as little as possible though so would prefer not to delete one of the existing sources so I can easily revert.

Or would it be safer to just 'snapshot' my gbpvr install folders and delete out a source with the option of easily reverting to my previous installation point?

Cheers,
Brian

You can currently have six of each type, so 6 BDA + 6 analog, but I can bump that up if needed. You should be fine adding another Nova-T.

 I couldn't imagine needing 12 tuners. My long term aim is 5 or possibly 6 Nova-t cards and ditch the analogue ones (all analogue channels in the UK are available on Freeview as well).

If it doesn't bring my system to a grinding halt, that is. Big Grin

Thanks for the reply - will try later tonight when current recordings have finished.

Now I remember the thread...

It's that the GBPVRTray app. only shows 6 sources. I remember you had to fix it to show more than 4 correctly when I added my fifth cap. source. You upped it to 6. This is what I'm seeing now with the 4th NOva-t in...

OK, I've added four more status panels for the next release.

It should work fine without this, but you just wont be able to see the status of this extra tuner in the current release.

How well does your PC work with 3 and 4 Nova-t cards ? I have 2 in my PC at the moment, and everything works OK, and was thinking about adding 1 or 2 more cards, but wasn't sure if it would overload the PC (2.9GHz Athlon, with Sata Raid drives). It would be useful to have feedback on how yours works.

I haven't had time to do too many clinical tests since I added the 3rd and 4th Nova-t.

I put the 3rd Nova-t in a couple of weeks ago and recordings have been fine. I seem to have a few problems with the fact that I have autoconvert enabled for dvr-ms -> mpeg2. When 3 recordings end at the same time the autoconvert sometimes seems to get confused (another story - I'm still trying to work that one out).

The 4th went in a few days ago and, as I said, I haven't really tested things out fully. I've got a test at the moment - currently 4 simultaneous recordings and around 8-15% CPU usage with peaks of 20-25% every so often. My system is a 2.4GHz P4 with 1GB cheapo RAM and a SATA 150 HD.

Cheers,
Brian
