I started transcoding to Xvid a few days ago (after I found the regsvr32 lame.ax trick in one of the other posts which solved my sound problem).

Now the AVI files play fine but when starting the third file GBPVR exits (-1 logs) it does this systematically. Also when and AVI was played GBPVR will exit when an MPEG is played (zero logs).

Just playing MPEG works absolutely without a hich-up.

There is one thing I noticed when checking with graphedit: the DivX decoder is used to play the XviD files (i think this does not matter however).

You system seems to be using the Elecard MPEG decoder for MPEG2 video, and the Elecard MPEG4 decoder for your xvid files.

I'd try disabling the Elecard MPEG4 decoder to see if it helps.

Many thanks Sub,

Unregistering the elecard MPEG-4 codec caused no video display, then reinstalling Xvid did the trick.

Now the Xvid codec is used which also clearly gives a better quality.
