hi,

I use the mvp now 1 week and I love it,
but I haven't found a solution to play mms streamings on the net radio,

I tried to add mms://streaming.newmedia.lu/eldoradio/.wma in an playlist file,
but that didn't worked..

Can someone help me with my problem...?

thanks..

The net radio functionality will only play shoutcast (mp3) streams.

Nope. There is nothing built in which will allow you to listen to this sort of stream.

Firstly as this is my first post I would like to say great work on GBPVR. I have just finished my first box based on it and I am very impressed, I have had a lot of fun tweaking things and playing with the right combinations fo plugins and skins, just can't wait for my MVP's to turn up to expand it out further.

I also had an issue with mms streams, mainly my better half telling me I could do what I want as long as it was easy to use and she could listen to Australian radio, all mms and not on shoutcast. I therefore had to find a way to stream them to Net Radio, basically I set up my own shoutcast server on the lan use winamp to stream the stations and pointed Net Radio to the PC running it, works well enough as I get to listen to the radio in the office and anyone else can in the house, can also run multiple streams subject to band width.

It isn't that difficult to do, shoutcast has it's own guides on setting up a lan station, just make sure you get the correct ip address for the station you listen to, just make sure you don't rebroadcast back to shoutcast, check port mapping on router etc. Also has an interesting application for parties as I can run my own radio station to all the rooms in the houses.

Cheers

Yes,
I had the same idea,
but somthing isn't good,
when I setup my own shoutcast server,
the server receives the mms stream 24/24,
and that produces traffic on my Dsl account...

There would be traffic coming from the mms stream, do you mean you think you are broadcasting too?

If so you may need to check the setting on your router and make sure that you haven't got port forwarding set up for the port used on shoutcast (8000,8001 as standard). You can always test to make sure by getting a friend to try and log on they would use the link http://XX.XXX.XX.XXX:8000/listen.pls where X's are your true IP address, not that of the PC on the LAN.

I found a much easier method. Use the VLC media player (I could not get the earlier versions to work, but v 0.8.4a works just fine). Open the network stream and then stream the output using the following settings:

Output method: HTTP
Address: leave blank
Port: 1234

Transcoding:
Video: leave unchecked
Audo Codec: mp3

Once you have this running, have GBPVR open "http:localhost:1234", substitute your computer's network address for "localhost" if you are using another computer to do this conversion.

I think I found an even eaiser method, as long as you dont care about using the actual "net radio" plugin.

This seems to work.

1. Create an ASX playlist with your streams listed. This is one example I was able to make work, from some US talk radio station.

File name : kssz_fM.asx

File contents:

<asx version = "3.0">

KSSZ_FM

<ref href = "mms://uni2.sa.streamaudio.com/KSSZ_FM"/>

<ref href = "mms://1.uni2.sa.streamaudio.com/KSSZ_FM"/>

<ref href = "mms://2.uni2.sa.streamaudio.com/KSSZ_FM"/>

</asx>

2. In the config app, Add the ASX file extension to your music type playback list. (or plugin settings as needed).

3. Select your music plugin of choice, select the ASX file, and start playback. It might require a few seconds to buffer.

I was able play back in "My Music".

Presto, net radio MMS streams.

Feedback? Works/doesn't? Not what your talking about?

---EDIT---
I didn't point out that I did not try this on a MVP. I only was able to make this work on a PC. I suspect it wont work on a MVP.

Sorry
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None
