Been working with GBPVR for the past week or so, and am still tweaking everything.

I am running on a Dell Dimension 8200, P4 1.7, 256MB RDRAM. Got two HDD's, 40GB and 80GB. Ive set the 40GB as my system, music, and downloaded video drive, and the 80GB drive is solely for live tv buffering and recorded show storage.

I am having an issue when I bring up any kind of OSD while watching live tv, that the live tv pauses briefly, or jerks for a few seconds, while im doing anything with the OSD. If i let the OSD sit on screen, video resumes playing smoothly, but as soon as i press a button, like to browse to another line on the guide, video chops up again. I have been assuming this is related to memory on the machine (256MB, yuck), but wanted to see if anyone had suggestions before I plopped down the cash for more RDRAM.

Things I have tried:
- Quartz DLL fix
- Disabling Deinterlacing
- Tried at VMR9, VMR7, Overlay Manager

Also, the second issue I am curious about. When the STB has its channel changed, it pops up a channel banner, which you can see through the OSD provided by GBPVR. I searched the skin files for some type of setting, but couldnt find it. Is there a way to make the channel "marquee" that pops up when you change channels solid instead of transparent? Also, is there a way to increase the duration that the "marquee" stays on the screen? If i can make it stay up for like 2-3 more seconds, it can hide the comcast banner pretty nicely.

Thanks to sub for this great software. I tried all the others, and this is the best.

your second issue, i've just done that today with the blue skin.

In the skin directory (assuming you're on Blue) under the OSD directory there are 3 entries in the skin.xml live preview, video playback and timeshift.

They take a bit of fiddling but yes ou can make the banner larger, and in the config program i think there is an option to turn off transparency. I don't think (but i may be wrong) that you can do anything about the time it is up.

here's my live preview entry (remember it's for the bluemce2 skin)
Code:
<CompositeImage name="LivePreview" size="720,480">
    <DrawImage filename="..\resources\background_osd.png" loc="0,360" size="720,120"/>
    <DrawImage filename="@channelIcon" loc="625,414" size="60,45" visible="true"/>
    <DrawText text="@title" loc="30,370" size="500,30" textStyle="OSDText" align="Left"/>
    <DrawText text="@description" loc="30,412" size="600,90" textStyle="OSDText" align="Left"/>
    <DrawText text="@time" loc="500,375" size="190,30" textStyle="OSDText" align="Right"/>
    <DrawText text="@subtitlesEnabled" loc="350,5" size="350,30" textStyle="OSDText" align="Right" visible="true"/>
</CompositeImage>

Try selecting overlay manager rather than VMR9 tht you probably have selected. VMR9 allows transparent OSD's and usually requires more CPU depending on graphics card so this may solve your studdering issue as well.

I have 756 on a 1.8, and I get a studder, too, when I first bring up the OSD guide. It's fine nav'ing it, and no problem w/ the info OSD.

It's the ram. More may not fix it entirely, but it will lessen it to maybe just first loading it.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Changing to overlay did remove the transparency, which is great. Also, I went into the setup for hipsend and set the box to use 3 digit channel numbers, padded with zero, and that sped up the time it took to change channels on the STB. Every once in a while you see the banner, but at least its better now.

The studder is still there, and I think its just something we will live with for now. It only happens when you are using the OSD and watching live tv.
