Firstly, I'm hesitant to post this because I'm not entirely sure it's a GB-PVR issue. However, I have noticed it since the last release, but can't be sure it IS GB-PVR and not some change to Windows.

When I play back from my Video Library, anything - avi, mkv, mpg, I get a 1 second pause about twice per show, seemingly random e.g. not a set interval into a show, or at the end or the middle - completely random.

I understand that GB-PVR is just asking Direct Show to playback the file and the codecs I have installed take over.

Here's the thing: I can watch all of these items FLAWLESSLY with Windows Media Player using those same codecs. It seems only when I play them via GB-PVR do I get the pauses.

Is WMP doing some caching that GB-PVR isn't asking for? I'm clueless how either of these programs interface with Direct Show.

What codecs are you using? If ffdshow is in there, make sure PVRX2 is on the whitelist.

Oooo, interesting suggestion. I do have ffdshow, but had the whitelist unchecked and the blacklist enabled - I would think that would mean "allow all except those on the blacklist, yes?

As a test I'll uncheck them both which should allow anything.

In my testing this, at one point I had used codecs other than ffdshow (assigning them a higher merit and confirming they were being used) with the same issues I initially described.

Thanks!

random thought:
what is in the pvr*log files when you see the stutter?
Also, if there is evidence of excessive logging, try setting gbpvr logging to error level.
