For some reason I'm not able to use the fast forward, reverse or skip buttons while using the MVP. All the other buttons work fine. I've tried different skins and the same thing happens. I know I've heard about this before but doing a search didn't find what I thought.
MPV works fine otherwise. Anyone know what it might be?

What type of file are you trying to play, and where did the file come from?

In my case I am just trying to playback a file that was recorded via the Guide. So, it is a mpg file.

I'm trying to read through all the other posts about losing fast forward and rewind functionality. There appears to be a lot of posts with this problem and each one seems to have a different solution (if it has one at all). There are also suggestions about how to improve the network, but since my computer is only 5% processor utilized and 5% network utilized during playback, I doubt that this is the problem.

There is one post about "mashing" the buttons. This might be my problem. When I start playback, the skip and rewind work fine, but I have to be very quick on the remote. If I hold the buttons too long (like something more than a second) the MVP server appears to stop responding all together to the keys. If I stop the playback and then restart it, then the functionality comes back.

Any idea why this is?
Thanks

If you only stopped one of the two Hauppauge MVP servers you can get behaviour like this.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your gbpvr.exe.log and I'll take a look.

I was experiencing similar problems as well.
viewing a show I had already seen, and trying to skip around I lost the ability to " use the fast forward, reverse or skip buttons while using the MVP" but similarly if I just exited the show and started it again I regained the functionality.

I've never installed the MVP software thus no services to shut off. (I am looking for a way to install some of the codecs so I can play avi file without installing the MVP software)

Changing the behaviour in the misc tab and unchecking the <use short skip instead of FF/RW> has so far made the problem go away but I haven't tested extensively since.

Here's what I notice, if I ff, rew, I have to wait a sec or two before pressing another button. If I try pressing any of those or pause in rapid succession (like 4x to skip an advert) it will lose the ability to do anything after that. So I ff-wait-ff-wait-ff-wait-ff.

I double checked the MVP services and both the MVPMedia and the MVPMediaSvc services have been permanently diabled. So, I am fairly confident that this is not the problem. When I get a chance I'll still try to get the log for you to look at.
