:confused: Hi everyone this is my first posting so be gentle.

I've installed a Nova-T model 9002 DVB card and downloaded the lastest software and BDA drivers from the web site.

I can view live TV OK via either GBPVR or winTV no problems and can recieve all the channels that I get on my freeview box on my main TV here in the UK.

The problem comes trying to populate the EPG the channel mapping seems to be OK and there are no error messages but when I view the EPG the channels appear with the correct time line but no epg listings. I have updated the epg several times with no success.

I have attached the config log which has some suspicious messages. But looking through the forum I am unable to understand what the problem is our how to resolve it. I'm a relative computer novice to please explain any technical terms you use in your responses

DVB EPG error reading xml: The root element is missing.

That certainly wont be helping matters. Try running:

regsvr32 "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\PsiParser.ax"

Then try again.

I've only been at this for about 3 weeks myself but from my experience with a Nova-T and a Freecom stick, the update of the EPG is a bit of a problem.

Typically it's either very slow to update or you get gaps. Some people just let it update bit by bit over a few days but I found that too frustrating for testing and set up purposes.

I have settled at using the xml gui http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

Set it to collect the channels that you want, set up an xp scheduled task to run daily.

Set gbpvr to read the resulting xml file and then do your channel mapping.

This also makes it pretty easy to map the channels that aren't being broadcast at the time or are sharing a mux. So if you scan during the day, you'll get cbeebies and cbbc, do it in the evening and you'll find bbc3 and bbc4.

Set up all four channels then map:-

cbbc=bbc3
bbc3=cbbc
cbeebies=bbc4
bbc4=cbeebies

If you get my drift?

The xml update is fast and you can get past the testing purposes pretty quickly and get on with enjoying the whole thing. Beware it's addictive, pretty quickly I was given budgetary approval for an extra tuner and a pair of MVP's which really do make it all lounge friendly.

David.

Hi,

I took up djtaylor's advice regarding using XMLTV GUI, but I just can't get the damn thing to work. It runs ok, but after selecting the radio times grabber and then hitting "grab listings", the log shows (amongst other things) - "0 programs found".

I've turned off my firewall to check it wasn't that.

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Thats because you haven't choosen the channels you want to download. Click on tools under the xmltv grabbers menu then grabbers then UK_RT, finally channels then pick your channels you want to download.

Nope!

Any change that you could run through this again please (or anyone else who has sucessfully mapped cbbc and cbeebies to bbc3 and 4.

I don't especially want the kids shows but bbc3&4 show the last (correct) show all the way through until 7pm the following day. If this show is one that i have set to record, it causes problems.

I guess for me, the ideal thing would be if 3&4 were just blank during the switch to the kids channels.

cheers
