Hello,

First posting & i would like to start by saying thanks for this great program !

I recieved my card from eBay today & already decided to dump the over BLOATED Pinnacle Media Center software for Gbpvr.

After fixing the intial hiccup with BDA driver support using these forums i now have one more problem that i can't seem to fix or get answer to.

Can i get the original Pinnacle 200e remote to work with Gbpvr ?
The remotes IR reciever is built into the USB PCTV 200e tuner.

What settings do i need to use ?? USB-UIRT ??
Do i need additional software utility ?

I have tried various things but not got anywhere.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

There is no built in support for this remote. If you're lucky and the Pinnacle remote works like many of the other remotes, then there may be some way to configure it to send specific keystrokes to the foreground application when the user presses the buttons on the remote.

Hmm that sounds discouraging.. & I really dont want to load up Pinnacle's Media Studio with its SQL server bloatware..

One of the the reasons for buying this TV card was the remote..

Is it not supported because of issue with the way pinnacle have made it or written drivers for /lack of ?

If i had bought the Terratec USB card with BDA drivers would that have guranteed the remote working with Gbpvr ??

Thanks

Its not supported because I dont have own of these devices. I've never even seen one, or its remote, so I dont really know anything about it.

No, you'd be in the same boat. I primarily support the Hauppauge remotes, MCE2004/MCE2005 remotes, Sapphire Cyberlink remote, other remotes via USB-UIRT receiver. You'll most likely be able to get other remotes to work, but you'll have to find out how to configure things up using the software that came with the remote.

Thanks for you replies & time.

In case it is of help to someone out there more technical than me & in same boat.. i found this..

http://nolanparty.com/mediaportal.source...mote+works

Some people have seemed to figured out a way to make mediaportal work with the remote by editing the .ini file in the pinnacle remote utilities directory.

I will have a bash at it tomorrow & if i get joy i will share it here.. I prefer Gbpvr to mediaportal.. Big Grin
Less bloated..

Keep up the good work !

Thanks

In case anyone is still interested, I've made this work. You have to edit the pinnacle.ini file. I'm using remote type B, and I'd be happy to share the file if anyone's interested. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing (especially since my ATI Remote Wonder II died on me the other day and I can't find a replacement in the UK).

I would really appreciate if you could share the file since I would like to get my pinnacle remote to work.

you'll need the pinnacle software installed for the remote to work. just disable the installed MSDE DB (take a look under services & disable them) & dump all autostarts from pinnacle except the one for the remote. do a search for pdf files in the pinnacle program folders, you should find one regarding the remote app, needed changes in the ini are described very good.
if you need detailed informations regarding the files & folders, i'll post them & my ini file either later today or sometime during weekend
