Hi,

I have been off the scene for a little while, but I downloaded the latest version on Sunday, and found that after about an hour watching Live TV, the display freezes and I have to press home to exit. Going back into watching live TV, it seems to work fine again, for about an hour.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I can do to correct this ?

Cheers

What are you using for playback (VMR7/9/Overlay/XCard/PVR350)?

Sorry Sub,

Should be more specific.
I use the TV out of the PVR 350
I have an XP 2600+ on a pc chips mobo with 512 mb ram. My graphics card is an Nvidia Geforce Mx 4 440.

It doesn't cause a hard lock, the picture just freezes, If I use the home key, I can get it working again.

Cheers

Do you know if you are sharing an IRQ between your PVR350 and another device? You can view this in control panel -> administrative tools -> computer management -> device manager. Select view -> resources by connection from the menu, then look at the Interrupt Request list.

Alternatively, if your motherboard uses a Via chipset, you may be seeing the imcompatibility with the PVR350 drivers that many users get with Intel/Via motherboards. This also affects other PVR software such as SageTV etc.

Hi Sub,

I checked the IRQ's
no problems there , Im not sure about the board, It was a PC chips board, but that may be a rebadged Via Chipset. It did work fine until my recent upgrade (it did freeze occasionally , but that was normally If I ran out of HDD space). (I have 12 Gb free on the GBPVR drive at the moment)

If it will help , I can lift the lid so to speak and check the MOBO.

Cheers

Sorry,

just thought, I should add that WinTV32 and 2000 work fine using the 350 TV out , it's just that the functionality of this is crap compared to GB PVR !

Sharing an IRQ would probably have been an easier thing to solve.

I dont really have any other suggestions and I'm guessing you have one of the motherboards that the PVR350 just doesn't like. Sorry. There was a recent comment on the SageTV forums that Hauppauge are working on the issue, so lets hope some drivers appear in the near future that correct the problem.

It seems to be related to DMA transfers of OSD information, which is why you only see the problem with GB-PVR and SageTV. WinTV2000 etc dont show any OSD information on the video, so do not suffer from the problem.

Its at times like this you wish you had access to the source code of the drivers. I'm sure it would only take half an hour to find the cause of the problem if you had a machine that exhibited the problem and access to source for the drivers. ...simply run it up in the debugger, and break in when the driver locks up.

Thanks for trying.

I'll try the latest drivers from SHS and see what happens.
I'll update here if they help, so other people can try them , I guess if that doesn't work, the next step is to get a new mobo , they are not expensive, so it's not a huge deal.

Again, thanks for the quick responses and the help, It's most appreciated.

Cheers
