Hi,

I have an issue with the aspect ratio when I use the F7 key to scan through the different options the only one that will work is the fill option.

The rest provide a small picture top left corner and the rest black with graphical errors look at the screen pic attached.

I have tried different decoders and cyberlink, nivida, Dscaler and the same results with all the only one that shows the picture is fill which on most channels is stretching the picture

I am using a geforce 7800 go graphics

Any ideas whats causing the issue, any solutions

There are quite a few users were having this problem with nvidia 6xxx and 7xxx series cards, VMR9 and hardware acceleration , see http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=12302.

There is something broken about gbpvr and how it performs aspect ratio adjustment as other applications using VMR9 with aspect ratio adjustment do not have this problem. I have tested media portal, digitalwatch and zoomplayer without this issue.

From the 0.97.7 release notes GBPVR now appears to be attempting aspect ratio detection and does not always open in the same aspect ratio mode. Toggling through ratios with F7 back to 0,0,1,1 eventually restores the image. I would assume you could work around the issue by removing this line in config.xml <AspectRatioMode name="Auto" ratio="0,0,0,0" />.

Cheers

I have seen reports of other apps having this same problem. I dont have an nvidia card, so have never seen the problem myself.

If any nvidia user finds any info on the cause, let me know and I'll try to fix it.

I know very little about windows programing but here is a link to the source code in digitalwatch that appears responsible for aspect ratio and zoom control. The zoom and aspect ratio control works well with nvidia hardware, vmr9 and hardware acceleration.

The developer Nate is very active in this forum http://forums.dvbowners.com/

Hoping this may help.

daza67, I did have a very quick look at the link in the post above. That app seems to be using Overlay, not VMR. Does this same problem occurr for you if you set your GB-PVR renderer to Overlay?

Hi,

I have taken all the extra lines of ratio out of the config file and left only the fill one which was the only one that actually worked.

At least now I dont have to constantly press f7 to get a viewable picture.

I did try overlay and there is no problem with that but then you cant change aspect ratio with overlay anyway.

I am only able to use the fill ratio, if you have any ideas or if its a bug that needs fixing I would really appreciate it as it would be nice to scroll through the different aspects on some stations as many channels are being stretched to provide the full screen coverage.

Thanks

Since 0.96, you have been able to change aspect ratio with Overlay. The only aspect ratios that cant be used with overlay, are those that use negative values (ie, outside the edge of the screen).

Is there a disadvantage with overlay? I just thought Overlay is used if the others dont work. what is the main difference with overlay and VMR 9.

Why is this happening with the Geforce 7800!

If possible I would appreciate a work around so the aspect changes work with VMR

Update, I just selected Overlay, and the F7 key does not work to change aspect ratio.

I tried VMR7 also and got the same issue as VMR9.

There seem to be many users with this issue, surely there is a fix, different drivers? If so which one.

Please anybody with info please help or offer assistance to the sub for a fix.

This is fantastic software and its just this issue I want sorted then all will be sweet!

Thanks for your time
