Hello again...

I've had some crazy problems with playing DVD's...
I'm not sure what my settings were at the start, but I had some DVD's showing an image for the menu and then freezing...

now, all that comes up is a black screen (at least it doesn't freeze now - I can back out to the previous menu). The reading light on the DVD drive doesn't even light up?!? (yes, it's trying to read from my physical DVD drive labelled E )
I've attached logs even though they don't seem to show much in the way of trouble.

I'm running gb-pvr 0.97.9 (with the patched GBPVR.exe version 1.0.2328.27027 from thread 16173 about DVD's freezing GB-PVR - although I couldn't watch DVD's before the patch either)

And before people ask: yes, I can watch dvd's in every other program, Yes, I've run through the menus in WMP, and Yes, I have the Navigator set to "DVD Navigator".

And just in case my previous thread doesn't get looked at (about AC3 filters), I was wondering what's considered a "reasonable" donation? I think this is fantastic software and have had better support through the forums than I've had anywhere! And, from what I've seen of other PVR's, this is the best (although, when I get all of the basic problems fixed, I'll be looking to incorporate emulators with joypad support for 1-4 people Big Grin. Open-source this project anyone?)

That patch was only for v0.97.7, and shouldnt be applied to v0.97.9. I hate to think what sort of problems this will cause...

Quote:20:30:09.046 VERBOSE getSetting(ListGraphFilters)
20:30:09.046 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
20:30:09.046 VERBOSE - DirectSound: NVIDIA® nForce™ Audio
20:30:09.046 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
20:30:09.046 VERBOSE - Nero Digital Audio Decoder
20:30:09.046 VERBOSE - InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
20:30:09.046 VERBOSE - DVD Navigator
You cant watch DVDs with the Intervideo NonCSS decoder. It is unable to handle the CSS encryption used on DVDs.

Again, this is yet another demonstration of amazing response time . . .
Do you not sleep? :p

I replaced the patched EXE with the old one (yay keeping backups) and I get the exact same problem.

As for the Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder, it is only in the "playback" tab, not the "DVD" tab AND isn't selected. Why it's showing up in the logs is beyond me...

And still no answer about donations? I want to help Big Grin

So what is selected as you video decoder on the config app DVD page? If its 'system default' then the Intervideo NonCSS one is probably your default.

Ahh - brilliant!
I must have had a few too many Guinness' to catch that... :o

Alas, System default is the only option available. So I guess this wraps up to being the same question as my AC3 post about adding other options to the menus when I have the codecs installed...

I've seen the forum entries about adding the Nero ones, but does that apply here? Could I add the Nero video decoder to DVD? Or is there a better choice?

P.S. - Donation made - This is some fan-freaking-tastic software!!!!Smile

Sounds like you dont have any others installed then.

In config.xml there is a list of the common ones that are known to work with GB-PVR. If any of these are installed on your machine, they'll be listed as an option. Looks like you dont have any of these installed.

<SupportedDVDDecoders>CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD7),InterVideo Video Decoder,NVIDIA Video Decoder,CyberLink Video/SP Decoder,MainConcept MPEG Video Decoder,Sonic Cinemaster® DS Video Decoder</SupportedDVDDecoders>

ahh . . . so it won't use any of the decoders installed on my system that work with WMP?
I couldnt' help but noticing that all of those other decoders cost cha-ching . . . . is this some kind of ruse to up decoder sales? :p

They're the most common ones. Nearly everyone has a received a free PowerDVD CD with a video card or DVD drive. Others may also work, but I havnt tested them.

You could add other names to the <SupportedDVDDecoders> setting in config.xml if you want it to use another one.

ahh, I'm a custom builder and none of my parts have come with that jazz . . .

Knowing the problem, I got the AC3filter from sourceforge, and am fixing the dvd decoder problem...

so far, the AC3 thing is working PERFECTLY.

Holy crap, I LOVE this software!!!! Maybe I'll have to make a second donation lol...

*update*
my *very* legal dvd fix of obtaining the NVIDIA decoders worked perfectly.
I'm quite certain that I won't get any work done from here on in =P
.... any hints on making plugins for emulators? =P
Thank you SO much again!!! Especially for solving problems that don't have to do with your software!
