I'm trying to get gbpvr up and running. I have a win2k system, sp4, mdac, .net 2.0 (no sp), and wmp 9.

I've read through as many posts as I could find related to my problem. Almost all of them seem to have been solved by an upgrade of WMP. I've already done that, though, and the software still won't run. Any ideas?

Whenever config tries to start, the following error is generated:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Can you see if there is an error message in the Windows Event Viewer?

No warnings or errors in any of the logs in the event viewer. Everything looks clean.

Usually when a user has a problem with this error on Win2k, they need to upgrade their version of Windows Media Player.

I'm running version 9 of the Media Player. When I launch the player and tell it to check for player updates, it tells me there are no updates available and my software is current.

I've uninstalled gbpvr, .net, and the media player. I've reinstalled everything (including running the mdac installer again). Still have the same problem.

The only other things running on the machine are cygwin and slimserver. I don't think either of those would cause any issues.

Not sure what else to try.

Sorry, I dont know. I've only ever tested GB-PVR on XP.

Have you tried using the forum search feature? There has certainly been several similar Win2k related issues solved in the past.

Done the search thing. Every post I can find that is even remotely related to my problem ends with the same suggestion (upgrade media player) and this fixes everyone's issues...except mine.

I'm just kind of hoping that someone with more Windows experience than me can maybe see something (or has run into something similar) and can suggest an answer.

Thanks for the help!

Nope. Unfortunately, that is the only text available for the error message. If I click Continue on the .NET error message, the config window opens but all of the drop-downs are empty, etc. and I can't do anything with the software except exit.

You could always download depend.exe from http://www.dependencywalker.com/. Run it and open NativeUtilities.DLL and it should tell you what dependency is not being found. On Win2k its usually WMVCore.DLL or something similar.
