Hey, I have a hauppauge 500 , configured both tuners with gb pvr, and can record two shows at the same time. But when I go to open the files nothing happens. No error message, no black screen...nothing. I tried opening the files with video redo and media player with no luck. I feel like its something in my settings thats wrong decoder, or playback? Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

Sounds like you are missing an MPEG decoder, such as the one included in the Intervideo Filter SDK, supplied with the 500 card.

The only thing I gor with the 500 were drivers. Are decoders available free or is it something I need to buy?

Just try out VLC Player (VideoLAN) or MediaPlayer Classic. I think you're talking about .avi Files (They contains, DivX, XviD, Matroska and other CoDecs) that you don't have installed..., right?

I guess that you indeed do not have a decoder installed or registered properly. I suggest you go to the Hauppauge website and download the codec from them (its free).

I decided that you guys are right. I do not have a decoder. the 500 mce ships without one I guess because it expects to use the mce one. In any case, I have downloaded several software decoders but cant seem to load them into gbpvr. IN the playback setting they are not listed and there is no browse option. I am a neebie having a lot of problems. I have tried Sage, BTV, MC,and nor GBPVR....I have had functionality problems with all of them. This leads me to believe that my problem is systemic. One thing that has been mentioned is that I have an integrated video card and that might be a conflict. Any thoughts on that or anything else that might help, please let me know.

Ah ^^ Now i am understanding you.

Ok, i have the same TV-Card. One question: Did you installed the driver, which was on the CD within your PVR-500MCE Package?
