Just installed .NET 2.0 on my WinXP box and then GBPVR 9713. Upon launch of the config program I get the error stated in the title of this thread.

I rebooted and launched CONFIG.EXE and got the same.

Any ideas?

NOTE: This is not a fresh install of GBPVR, but rather an update over the top of 9612.

Is there a config.exe.log produced when you try to run the config app? If so, post it and I'll take a look.

Before seeing your post I contiued to t-shoot this (didn't think of going to the log ... dummy though I am).

I removed all of the DLL's from the PLUGINS folder and then launched config.exe successfully. So, I put them back in one by one and ID'd that PicturesPlugin.dll was the culprit.

So, do I need to download new versions of MOST of the plugins now that you've gone to using the .NET 2.0 assemblies?

In any event, below is the last part of the log (generated (when the error is generated upon launch, with PicturesPlugin.dll in the PLUGINS folder). It doesn't appear to have logged any errro, but rather simply crashed at the point of trying to load the offending DLL. NOTE: The amount of text is too long to include all within this post. If you'd like to see the whole thing then I can submit it as an attachment.

The main reason that I updated to 9713 was to see if it would fix a mysterious problem that has cropped up with respect to one of my capture cards, but only within GBPVR.

The update to the newer version didn't help. Could you have a look at this post and tell me if you have any ideas of how I would proceed in trying to fix the issue?

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=17746#7

Also, since I really am quite happy with 9612 and don't have the time now to engage in installing all new versions of plugins, can you advise what is the cleanest way to revert to 9612 (especially in view of the fact that I installed .NET 2.0)?

Thanks.

Assuming your picture is the same as that other users, then it just looks like bad reception to me, though different versions of the Hauppauge drivers might help with locking on to the TV signal. There isnt any GB-PVR setting that would help this.

See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=18308. If you dont have a backup, then you're out of luck. There is no automated downgrade procedure.

Ok ... thanks. I do have a backup, so I'll be OK there.

The capture card issue is very frustrating though. I'm fairly confident that it's not bad reception because: (1) the picture and sound are perfectly fine through WinTV; and, (2) when I swap COAX cables between the PVR-150 and PVR-150MCE, the 150MCE is still fine and the 150 still has the issue.

This just happened out of the blue with no rhyme or reason. Is there anything in the DirectShow registry setting that I could be checking out (although you would think that if something were corrupt there I would have the problem with both the 150MCE and the 150)?

Not that I know of.

Exactly.

It might be some strange incompatibility that can occur with mixed tuner types or something. ie, Hauppauge having one set of tuner tweaks in the registry somewhere - perfect for one device, bad for the other. GB-PVR doesnt do anything more (for example) than tell card 1 to switch to channel 22. I dont deal in any more low level details than that.

Maybe try uninstalling the drivers, running hcwclear, then reinstalling the drivers?

Alreeady done with various driver revs. No luck. Thanks, though, for the suggestion. I guess I'll just have to live with one tuner for now until I find any other clues.
