Hi,

Up till now I've been using software decoding for recordings and everything has worked as expected - I can playback my gbpvr recordings, divx, etc.

Today I switched to using my PVR-350's tv-out for recordings. This is working great (picture quality is way better than software decoder). But, when I playback divxs and switch to the tv-out on my gfx card I get a black screen and no audio?

Switch back to software only and everything is fine again.

Now i thought if you used the 350's tv-out it would only play mpeg2 and playing divx would go through the gfx card tv-out. Is this how its supposed to work or am I being incredibly stupid?

Cheers,

Scott

No, if the PVR350 tv out is used, you can only use the PVR350 tv out. It wont dynamically switch between them.

I'm still not fully understanding this all, could someone enlighten me...

I wish to use the DVI output for connection to my plasma. Does this meen I can't use the hardware decoding of my PVR350?

See, I don't want to use scart / SVHS - it is inferior to DVI but am i losing something

(told you i didn't understand this!Wink

Cheers - steve.

Thats correct.

The hardware decoder on the PVR350 is hardwired to the svideo/composite tv out connections on the back of the PVR350, so no - you cant use your PVR350s decoder to display via your graphics card's DVI.

Sub,

DivX support is something for the Wish List I guess:
Being the proud owner of a MVP I do like the fact the MVP Server does support to play back divX to the MVP. But other than this I like the GBPVR much better!

My understanding is that the server makes use of divX decoders insalled on the server to convert the divX on the fly to a MVP compatible format (MPEG, I assume) which then is streamed to it.

Can you imagine to apply the same scheme to MPV/PVR350 in GBPVR in the long run? until then I need to shut down your cool application and power up the MVP's server service and restart the MVP... to watch DivX movies.

Cheers - X

Maybe in the future, but its way way down the priority list, so you probably wont see it anytime soon.
