In my situation where the router is also the DHCP server, it helped to assign an IP number to the MAC address of the MVP. Connection was considerable faster.

pz has a good point. I have done this too, working well like that for 10 months or so. k.

Well nothing will play through the MVP from GBPVR. I have tried mpeg2, divx, mp3s and wma. Nothing will play. It will work just fine through the interface on my computer however. I know there has to be something simple I am missing. I have used GBPVR without any issues for almost a year now and then wham, nothing.

My computer stats:
AMD Athlon 64 3000 running at 2GHz with 512 of PC-3200 RAM. I run MS Windows XP Pro SP 2 with all the requred updates etc. I have 1 Maxtor 120GB SATA drive which serves as my system drive (where GBPVR is loaded), 1 Maxtor 50GB IDE drive (PVR directory) and 1 Segate 30GB IDE drive (Video library). I have a PVR-150 connected to a MSI mother board. The motherboard has a gigabyte LAN nic which connects to a Linksys Vonage router. The MVP is also wired into the Linksys router through about 15ft of CAT5 cable. There are only two other devices on the network, a wireless router connected as a hub (NAT and DHCP functions are disabled on the wireless router) and a Dell laptop which connects through the wireless router.

Nothing has changed in the physical setup of the GBPVR computer and the network as a whole. This setup has worked flawlessly for me for a while. I do not believe there are any problems with the hardware because everything will play fine when I use the Hauppuage MVP interface. I have tried to do a complete wipe of GBPVR and start over (including removing the registry files), but that did not solve the problem. I have a ghost image of my computer burned on several DVDs from a month or so ago which I was able to restore the GBPVR directory from in an attempt to revert back to a known vaild setup. But that did not help either.

I have attached all the logs in the hopes they will reveal something. Thanks for everyones help. Smile

Looking at your logs, it seems to me you're still running one of the two Hauppauge MVP service. They must both be stopped to use GB-PVR.

Both MVPMedia and MVPMediaSvc are set to manual and are not currently running.

When an MVP starts up, it usually makes two connections to GB-PVR. The 'Control' connection used for showing the GUI etc, and the 'Streaming' connection for playing files. I can see in your logs that its only getting an incoming Control connection. The only reason I've seen for this occuring in the past is because the Control connection is already in use by some other software (usually the Hauppauge MVP software).

I went ahead an uninstall the Hauppauge software. Same problem, unable to play any file type. I have attached the updated logs.

You may have some other software that is running which is using the required port. Its very clear in your logs that this second connection from the MVP just never arrives

What ports does the MVP use? I took a look at all the active port connections on my computer and I can not find any program that is sharing the same port as any of the GBPVR processes. I have attached a portion of a screen shot that shows all the active connections on my computer. The one highlighted in gray 192.168.15.4 is my computer and 192.168.15.2 is my MVP.

There are quite a few sockets used for different purposes. The two most significant ones are:
- 5906 which is the control socket (connected in screenshot above)
- 8337 which is the stream socket (listening in the screenshot above)

If there isnt any other software using the same socket, then the next most likely cause is your firewall software is stopping the MVP from being able to connect to port 8337.
