I did a search, but did not find this situation. I wanted to record on one machine, then move the recording to another machine on a different network and have it appear in the "recorded programs" section of the new machine.

Obviously I can copy the recorded program and access it on the new machine in the "videos" section, but I lose the info about the program. Is there some other file I need to copy to preserve the program info and have it appear in the recorded programs section?

Thanks.

From the config app you can export the recordings (to the recordings-dump.xml file as default), and reimport them on the other machine via the config app again.

This is not very practical for every day use. GBPVR produces the recordings-dump.xml file every time the guide is updated. You could automate the copying to the other machine. I don't know whether importing can be automated. Maybe if you search the forum you find something.

Another option to import the file is the mpegimport utility from the wiki.

Thank you. I had tried manually copying that record dump file and pasting in in the directory of the second machine, but to no avail. I will try the import/export options you list.

It isn't an everyday occurance, just thought it would be easier than burning a DVD to view a program at a different location once in a while (i.e., I record a show that my parents wanted to watch).

Thanks again.

Use Renamerecording or addepisode to retain the episode name, then move the whole directory to 2nd PC. On 2nd PC, you use the Video Archive pluing to view the video.

This way you loose the extra information on the episode, but Video Archive display the episode name and date.

I like the idea of this... you can have a wacking great PVR hidden away with a small neat play back machine.....

Not sure but could this be where the PC MVP client comes in ?
