I'm getting problems with recordings on BBC Three every so often (I'm just west of London and use the Crystal Palace transmitter).

Generally I get good recordings on DVB-T channels but sometimes BBC3 recordings break up quite a bit or simply won't playback at all. Tonight I recorded two episodes of "Two pints..." back to back between 21:00 and 22:00 and both are consistently jerky with bad sound. An hour later, however, my box recorded a half hour programme on Sky Three which plays back perfectly - not a single glitch on sound or vision.

Anyone else having problems with BBC3 (particularly in the Crystal Palace area)?

Cheers,
Brian

Sounds like a low signal strength problem to me, do you have the original TV card software installed, as sometimes it can tell you the strength of each channel.

Not sure about that - my STB connected to my TV actually shows the C34 mux (that carries Sky Three) to have a very slightly lower signal strength than C25 which carries BBC Three. I'd expect the recording to break up, block/pixellate (or fail totally) if it was signal (i.e., carrier) relatedbut the video side of it was solid and sharp it just played back jerkily. Bizarre.

Brian

I have issues with the ITV muxes sometimes but these are QAM64 which are known to be prone to break up. Maybe its your signal is too strong or a component in your pc is interfering with BBC£ (does it happen on BBC1 & 2?). I am also on the crystal palace transmitter but have no issues with BBC3 although I do not watch BBC3 that often.

If anything it would be that as I'm only about 15 miles from Crystal Palace and have a 6ft 64-element high gain aerial. I don't generally see problems on other channels though - BBC3 is the only one that messes about on a regular basis.

I was thinking I'll have to setup some tests. BBC1 & 2 are disabled on my DVB cap. sources as I let my 350 and 500 record the main 5 analogue channels. I use the Nova cap. sources for the digital only channels. I'll give it a try.

Cheers,
Brian
