Hi,

I seem to be stuck on 96.12 as any later release causes DVB-T to stutter.

I've tried moving to 97.x releases but no luck

I just tried updating to 98.08 (via 97.13 to convert the database) and noticed the following.

Some channels stuttered really badly straight away, but if I went and re-did the channel tuning, the performance improved dramatically.

Watching or recording a channel was fine for 5 to 10 minutes, then the stuttering would begin.

Going back to 96.12 these problems disappeared.

I have a Twinhan (DVB-TV 878 Digital Tuner Driver - Version 1.2.3.5) using Cyberlink mux 5.0.0813 and Nvideo Decoder

Machine is a P4 2.8Ghz 512MB RAM

I wondering if the channel tuning issue might have something to do with it. SCAN-1.cache ends up with hundreds of entries, most of which are unknown.

I'm running out of ideas...

Thanks for any suggestions

If you were using the default VMR9 Custom renderer, it might be worth trying the straight VMR9 renderer which was the default in older releases. You may also want to disable teletext subtitles or DVB subtitles, which were both recently released and could potentially cause this.

I've had a couple of reports of stuttering in timeshift mode live tv, but a couple of those guys indicated they've had that problem for lots of releases (v0.95 or even earlier?). Other than that, I'm not aware of any common problem that could cause this. It seems to be working fine for most people, otherwise I would have heard a lot more about it.

Thanks sub.

I'm using overlay with a Nvidia 6200.

As the issue happens with recordings too, I assume the rendering isn't the issue.

I Know you haven't changed much in this area since 96.12 so I can't figure out why it happens - but I simply upgrade (don't change any of the settings) and it wont work for me - very frustrating!

I'm sure it'll just be something environmental. Something installed on your machine thats causing it to behave badly. Combination of directshow filters or something similiar.

If you zip and attach your logs for v0.98.8, I'll see if I can see anything.

Thanks sub... logs attached.

It started to play up when recording from channel ten - red bull air race.

I can put a copy somwhere of the 25mb mpg file for you to look at if it helps

Your logs show you watching several channels in live tv, and then watching this red bull air race. Was it fine for all the live tv channels?

If it only stuttered during the playback of the file, is it a recording problem or a playback problem? ie, can the file playback fine in another player (preferrably test in something non-directshow based like vlc or mplayer)?

Also you noted this while the show was still recording. Does the same show play better after the recording was complete or cancelled?

Hi,

Actually I viewed the recorded file again and it did play back fine from within GB-PVR.

So I cleared the logs and tried to view channel nine again in live preview mode.

It came back with a no signal dialog box, but showed both the signal quality as being very high. I went back to the menu and tried again, same message.

This time it wouldn't go back to the menu, and I had to kill it. logs are attached.

I'll watch in Live Preview mode for a while and see if it starts skipping/stuttering again

Thanks for all the help

For that last error where it locked up, it seems to have locked up submitting the tuning request to the Twinhan device. Have you updated your Twinhan drivers in a while? If not, then it might worth doing it.

I haven't had much luck with the later twinhan drivers, usually they make things worse!

I'll try the latest ones and see how I go...

Thanks again for the help, I know your busy - it's most appreciated!

Hi,

Newer drivers didn't help, just made it worse so went back to 1.2.3.5 again.

Was recording Moto GP and timeshift and later playback showed skipping.

Logs are attached.

Maybe I should throw out the twinhan and get another card, is there one that you'd recommend ?
