OK - Playing with GBPVR 98.8 in Client mode it all looks promising! I can see the guide, I can see recordings etc. I just can't play!

I have played with graph edit and found that by specifying the mainconcept video and audio decoders AND most importantly specifying "Mainconcept MPEG Splitter" it plays perfectly.

But the default graph always seems to use MPEG-2 Demultiplexer and the best I get is one frame of video with audio playing normally.

Is there a way to build a grf file and then force GBPVR to use it (This seems like a quick fix to me rather than solving the Codec hell). My lounge pc is fine as I've ONLY installed whats absolutely necessary and this pc runs like a dream. But it would be nice to be able to play stuff to my office pc while I work and this pc has lots of video editing software etc so it has many codecs installed.

I've tried de-registering the Intervideo Codecs and the Nero ones and it still won't play with Mainconcept selected - I've tried de-registering Mainconcept and selecting Intervideo and still no go.

Whats the best method of attack here (assuming I'm dreaming being able to specify a .grf file for GBPVR to use).

What if you choose mainconcept or intervideo in gbpvr-config-playback, not just default?

Yep, sorry - that wont happen for lots of reasons.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Yeah - tried that - still no good. I'll zip and attach logs etc.

I've attached the logs and lastgraph with Intervideo selected, Mainconcept selected and Nero Selected. It didn't recreate the lastgraph.grf for mainconcept so I assume this means it never built a graph successfully???

With intervideo selected it plays one frame with sound but I can't use ESC or anything - it just plays audio and won't respond - I have to close GBPVR with the X at the top (running in a window). With Mainconcept I get a blank screen with audio only although pause and ESC work. I don't get any OSD even in this mode (Does GBPVR add this to the Mpeg Video Stream or overlay it over the picture??? Either way I don't get any osd). With Nero Selected I get one frame of video, I get audio playing and pausing and I can ESC out (And it created a GRF)

I have tried De-registering various Codecs with no joy

I suspect its something to do with your mainconcept video decoder. I notice it tries to get used in all those scenarios you tried:

Just curious, have you tried the streaming mode? This is what I'm personally using, and seems to be what most other users are using.

Ok - next I deregistered the Mainconcept codecs and tried it in streaming mode with Nero selected and it plays well - (A little slow to pause and resume but I guess this is because its streaming) - but GBPVR hands when I exit playback - I have to end GBPVR in Taskmanager. With intervideo selected in Streaming mode I get 1 frame then GBPVR crashed (the error report mentions IVIVIDEO.AX).

I'm really supposed to be onsite now setting up a new user for a client so I better get out of here - I'll continue tonight. Thanks for looking at the logs Sub - I'll just keep experimenting with the codecs and streaming vs network share.

I know this is in no-way a GBPVR problem its Codec/Directshow related so its appreciated that you still take the time even though I'm well and truely a GBPVR convert!
