Is there any way to make GBPVR pass the navigation keys to a USBUIRT for navigation of on demand channels?

Its not possible with the built in GB-PVR USB-UIRT support but you might be able to cobble some custom logic together with the help of HIP or Girder.

Further to my query about Nicam Support what I am hoping to do is :

1. Map a Key on my MVP Remote to
2. Send a signal to the MVP by IR to
3. Send a signal to my GBPVR Server PC to
4. Transmit an IR command to my USB-UIRT to
5. Change the audio from A to B on my Digital set top box.

Q's.

a. Is this at all possible (via the MVP, I know it can be done via the USB-UIRT + PC direct).
b. Where can I find out which MVP remote key is free ?
c. Are there conflicts if you map an already mapped MVP key?
d. Are there any recommendations about which is better / easier (HIP, Eventghost or other?)
e. Any tips?

TA!

I couldn't find the message you linked to but it is possible with gbpvr or a plugin, or through mvpmc if you had another server that could process a message from a client.

Quote:b. Where can I find out which MVP remote key is free ?

The only key that might be free is the pound/hash/octothorpe/number sign key.

Quote:c. Are there conflicts if you map an already mapped MVP key?

It depends gbpvr ignores keys that aren't valid in the current module.

Sorry, fixed the link...

Great. I tried Eventghost and it seems to mostly work with the PC / USBUIRT. So how do I get the MVP to recognize the pound/hash/octothorpe/number sign key ?

OK, Ta.

Sorry, I dont think it'd be possible to any custom key mapping stuff like this with the GB-PVR MVP server.

I figured a plugin could possibly do it, in any case because of this feature of EventGhost "a special HTTP request is made to the internal web server" it should be trivial to add a basic request to one of my special "Go" function keys in mvpmc.

In the long run with mvpmc this should really be done with LIRC but there has been no interest shown in it so I put all the code away.

Martin, could I put in a polite request for that. i.e. permit mapping of one of the free key(s) to a remote command that I could get it to "learn" i.e. in my case to change audio A-B on my DSL box?

Thanks,
k.

The mvp remote isn't a learning remote, so that's not possible, and it doesn't buy anything because GBPVR would at best ignore the keystroke. I thought you needed a solution to get from the mvp to Eventghost on your GBPVR PC and not to GPBVR itself.
