Hi All-

New user here. Running Windows XP SP2 (home), AMD athlon 2.2 ghz, 1.5 gigs ram. Got the PVR-150 (not MCE) with remote and IR blaster, popped it in, and installed GBPVR. I'm using a Motorola digital STB (DCT2224). Everything works but the remote. I can view Live TV, but that's about it. Remote does not work at all. I can change channels with the STB remote, but GBPVR doesn't know that I've changed them, so the channel guides don't line up and I can't workaround with mouse/keyboard.

Installed Sage TV, Hauppage remote works perfectly, so I know it's a problem with GB-PVR, not the hardware.

Wiki says that GBPVR is supposed to make some changes to a particular file. I'm not sure if those changes got made, how to check, what to do if they didn't get made, or if these changes are related to my remote issue.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Jason

In the config app, you should click "fix hauppauge remote", that should take care of the problem.

Thanks for the tip, Stefan. That worked somewhat. I can now control GBPVR functions with the remote. But I still can't change channels--the channel changer goes up and down, but the STB doesn't coordinate.

I'm guessing that I have to change something in the config related to the IR blaster. Maybe Edit Recording Source-->Channel Changer? But which option do I choose for the Hauppage IR Blaster?

Thanks-

I don't own one of those, so I'm not sure, but I *think* you should choose "external .exe changer", and point it to an exe in gbpvr directory, one that is called something like HaupBlast.exe...

Thanks, guys. Tried that. Now when I change channels, I can see the STB blinking and the numbers "000" come up onscreen. GBPVR moves up in the channel guide, but the channel doesn't change because it's being sent the wrong code.

Note that now I can no longer change channels in Sage TV, either (I could before messing around in GBPVR). Tried running through Sage's config again, no dice. Tried resetting the IR Blaster config-also no luck.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, I don't know how the setup of the blaster works... what does the wiki say?

To the best of my knowledge GB-PVR doesn't mess around with the IR Blaster's config at all. You need to go through the BlastCfg again and make sure you have the correct box selected. Use it's test function to make sure you power on and off the box with it and change channels too. Once you get it right in BlastCfg it should work in GB-PVR.

If you've upgraded the Hauppauge or Blaster drivers at all I'm guessing this is where things got screwed up. The Blaster drivers are one of the most finicky I've ever played with, and I've had to wipe the Hauppauge drivers clean and reinstall a number of times due to trouble with the Blaster.

From reading the thead it doesn't look like the Hauppauge config has been run. GBPVR only calls the Hauppauge blaster with a channel number - you have to setup the blaster for the type of box you are trying to control.
As WTG says, the Hauppauge BastCfg program needs running.

Success! After a couple of reboots and some twiddling around in the settings, I got this fixed. Thanks for your help, guys!

Solution: when configuring HaupBlast.exe in the config menu, the instructions say to enter {channel} in properties box. I had interpreted that to mean the channel on the TV tuner card that I would use to receive the signal from the STB, so entered {3}.

Apparently, that property pads the remote signal with 3 zeros. Deleted the entry and am fixed up.

Rebooting (4 times) eventually fixed Sage TV as well, so now I can use both. Must say that I'm not a geek and so appreciate Sage's dummy-friendly interface, but you can't beat the price or forums here at GBPVR! I think it will come down to GFAF (same as WAF, but we're not married Smile.
