Hi,

I`ve just installed the latest GB-PVR, and I`ve got the S-Video TV-Out
working in Clone mode on my 4:3 TV from my Nvidia 6600GT GFX card, and
the results are stunning, I`m really impressed with any TV, DVD`s or Videos
played on the TV.

The problem I`ve got is that when I bring any menus up, they look fine on
my monitor, but on my TV they are huge, and do not `scrunch up` to fill
the whole screen on the TV like the Video does in Clone mode.

It`s a little like when you`re looking at a large desktop through TV-out in
Clone Mode, and the mouse will scroll over the desktop landscape on the TV.

Does GB-PVR have a facility to fill the TV-Out screen as a full-screen device,
as the Overlay does when playing video onto it, or am I left with the large
menu`s?

Thanks for any help,

Highlander

Apologies for not stating in the original message, but the card I`m using
is the Hauppauge Nova-T-500 PCI if this helps.

Cheers,

Try playing with the following lines in the config.xml file:
<!-- overscan control (border size in pixels) -->
<OverScanBorderX1>0</OverScanBorderX1>
<OverScanBorderY1>0</OverScanBorderY1>
<OverScanBorderX2>0</OverScanBorderX2>
<OverScanBorderY2>0</OverScanBorderY2>

Where the value is 0, I set all of them to 16 on mine and the menus now fit perfect on my TV.

Don't forget to make a backup of the config.xml file before you edit it... just in case you mess something up, you'll have the backup to fall back on.

Thanks for the help, and I`ve just had a play with the .xml config file, but I
think I may need to backtrack a little and explain a little differently.

When I watch LiveTV or a recorded program, or a DVD on my TV, the overlay
kicks in and everything is sweet with full screen video on my TV.

When I get the Now/Next mini TV-guide up with GB-PVR, the guide comes up
on my monitor, but does not come up on top of the Overlay video on the TV.

When I exit LiveTv or a recorded program, to go back to the `normal` GB-PVR
menu, the Overlay dissapears off my TV and I`m left looking at the GB-PVR
window on the TV, which is four times the size of the screen, and scrolls when I move the mouse. It`s fine on the monitor, as this is set to my
desktop resolution.

So two issues I think, one is that the mini-guide info doesn`t come up
when in Overlay mode on the TV, and then I can`t seem to get anything
to come up in a decent size on the TV when not in Overlay mode.

Hope this helps, and apologies for any confusion.

Cheers,

Highlander

I think this is not a GBPVR issue but a video card issue. When using windows mediaplayer you will probably get similar behaviour. I am not sure any more how this works exactly but it has to do with the way the display cloning is set up in the video drivers. The video driver does not retain the resolution after going into overlay mode. Try playing with these settings.

Another thing that could make a difference in the overlay - VMR setting. Default GBPVR user the VMR9 custom renderer which i have the best experience with.

I think if you play with the nvidia settings for theater mode ( or maybe that sthe ATI name) you can change it so it leaves the video unchanged between teh TV & monitor out.

Then, you can have an exact clone. I think the nvida setting takes control of the overlay, and full screens it, meaning the GBPVR can't render the OSD on top of it.

It's been a while since I had the nvidia card in my PVR, so can't remember the exact details.

Hope that helps

Ahh okay. I had this same problem on my setup when using the older video drivers . I have my setup in clone mode as well, DVI out and Component video out with my 6600. The DVI out would switch to a panning desktop. I installed the latest forceware drivers and set both displays to 720x480 and so far it has stuck when watching tv. I'm using the regular VMR9, not the VMR9 custom render.

Well, I have exactly the same problem - but I don't know how to fix it. I agree it must be a graphic card-issue. Mine is a Radeon X600.

Maybe try the same fix - got to the ATI control panel and go to Video adjustments or similar and make sure that the video mode is not set to "Theatre" - as I think this is the mode which zooms the overlay to full screen on the secondary device (or you can set it to not zoom etc) - then you should get the OSD on your TV.

Thanks

It is this problem, I have, too: "When I exit LiveTv or a recorded program, to go back to the `normal` GB-PVR
menu, the Overlay dissapears off my TV and I`m left looking at the GB-PVR
window on the TV, which is four times the size of the screen, and scrolls when I move the mouse. It`s fine on the monitor, as this is set to my

I do in fact have OSD. Some time, a few months ago, I didn't have OSD. I think it had something to do with the Config, Playback settings. I use VMR7 now, then I have OSD.
