Hi all,
The most important thing for me to be able to do is stream live tv and recordings to another pc in the house.
I have read a few guides on this through these forums but they are all slightly different. Nothing I have tried has got it working.
I wondered whether it was possible for someone who has got it working to provide an updated guide on how to do it. Thanks muchly.
Out of curiosity is the streaming part of the software being developed to make it more user friendly i.e no more editing config files etc all doen thru the interface...just wondered.
Thanks in advance

You dont have to edit any config files. You just basically install GB-PVR on the client PC, then tick the 'act as client' setting on the capture source page of the config app, then key in the server name and the share name of the GB-PVR share on the server.

Okay that sounds fair enough,
How come there is a page on the wiki referring to editing config files?
I understand about the client machine but what do you have to do on the server side? At the moment it is running on my machine as normal, what changes would I have to make.
Again thanks for your time.

There used to be some roll-your-own client that some people used. That page probably describes that.

The only thing you need to do on the server is share the GB-PVR directory (the path to which gets entered on the client).

Hi there again,
I have shared the gbpvr directory and also the recordings directory.
On client machine i have named the server: \\markone - which is the name of my machine
and i have set the database share name as: \\markone\gbpvr
I can see the tv listings but when I try and watch something i get a Failed to communicate with the Recording Service message.
Thanks again

The server name should be "markone" not "\\markone".

the server should simply be markone - not \\markone

lots of people make this mistake (including me) possibly sub should put a note on the config screen, which would probably be one of the more simple changes to the program he could make

The next release automatically strips any leading "\\" the user entered in this field.

Excellent I will give that a go this evening thanks a lot for your help!
Great programme by the way, and once I get this streaming running it will be perfect!
I wonder if anyone would know, if I was to put a couple of the dual tuner cards into a home server and stream from there. If I had for instance 2-3 streams happening at any one time what sort of power would my server require? Processor and ram requirements. In AMD terms if possible.
Thanks guys

Hi guys,
Having returned from work I gave it a go and changed the server name to markone.
Now when I attempt to watch something, I get the starting timeshift mode tv please wait screen and then a brief flash of corrupt colours acroos the screen then back to the tv guide.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Mark
