Hi

Have recently done a fresh install of WinXP MCE2005.

Have installed GBPVR and am now running latest version 99.12

I have tried adding capture devices in the config applet.

I have successfully installed a Hauppauge PVR500 and it works and records just fine.

But when attempting to add a Hauppauge NovaT terestrial card (90002) then the app reports that it is "unable to start a BDA device that you have configured".

This also occurs when trying to add The Twinhan DVB-S card.

I have had these devices working successfully in previous installations but I cant get them to work now. I have read the forum etc and can find no suggested fix.

I have attached logs and would be grateful if you could advise me what I'm doing wrong.

Somethings not healthy with that setup. I've not seen it before though, so not really sure what advice to give.

It makes me think it doesnt have a functioning directshow on that machine.

You might want to make sure MCE isnt using the device. I dont think this would lead to this error, but worth checking.

Many thanks sub. I'll look hard at that bit. I have never setup MCE on this setup so would be dissappointed if it has messed with the card.

Hi Sub

Have checked MCE is not hogging devices. I had disabled the 2 MCE services and had not configured MCE. In fact when I tried to run MCE it complained that I had disbaled the services. So its not that bit.

Checked that another app was not hogging devices so I uninstalled DVBviewer which had a recording service running. This did not help. Then reinstalled DVBViewer to check that it could see the two BDA cards. It could and was able to tune channels and view video etc on both cards without problems or error messages.

Can only conclude that GBPVR is screwed up in some way on my machine. Would a clean install of GBPVR help???

sub - I'm guessing you saw...
Code:
2007-02-27 21:26:15.734    VERBOSE    Adding MPEG-2 Sections and Tables filter
2007-02-27 21:26:15.828    VERBOSE    ConnectPins failed: hr = 80040217
The nefarious 'No combination of intermediate filters...etc.' error.

Not that I know anything about what's going on here - I'm just following BDA/DVB issues at the moment for various reasons.

I'll go away and shut up now. :o

Cheers,
Brian

I had something similar happen on a previous installation.

It turned out to be the fact that the drivers had been renamed. Twinhan like to change the names of the devices every time they release a new version.

Maybe hauppauge have done the same thing.

My twinhan DVB-S drivesrs are version 1.2.3.8 whql
Hauppauge NovaT (90002) are from the latest released version 3.3c driver set.

But it would be unlikely for this problem to afflict both devices at once.

Hi

Haven't given up yet.

Have just reinstalled GBPVR 99.12. Uninstalled previous version first and then did a clean install.

Have added the PVR500 capture card and these worked fine as before.

Then again tried to add the Hauppauge Nova T (90002) card.

The behaviour is unchanged from before. I add the device in the config program (selecting the 90002 device from the list of devices present on my machine) and then when attempting to scan via "map channels to epg" button then I get the error message and the config app crashes.

Wondering if I had set the device numbers correctly I ran the deviceTypeCheck.exe program

This shows and error message as below.

Code:
22:20:45.468    INFO    Log started
22:20:45.468    VERBOSE    ECP interface found

22:20:45.468    INFO    Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture: model 23559
22:20:45.500    VERBOSE    ECP interface found

22:20:45.500    INFO    Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture: model 23559
22:20:45.500    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture
22:20:45.500    ERROR    Failed to find requested device: Hauppauge PVR150 (instance 3)

Anything else to try?
