Having the same problem. Installed the patch but it did not work. I'll have to go back to an older dongle. I'll report back.

fhmanas Wrote:How do you assign a static IP for your MVP? Is it possible with my WRT54Gs.fhmanas, Yes it is. But only with 3rd Party F/W Loaded on the RIGHT model WRT54G. I use HyperWRT Thibor 15c on two WRT54GS's. There are many 3rd part f/w's for the WRT54G/GS range. HyperWRT is my personal favourite as it remains very close to the original Linksys codebase. Others offer more features, but don't look at all like what you have (see) now. I can help you set it up if you are brave and willing to take extreme care flashing f/w. The f/w is here and the forum for it here. You MUST have the correct model. You MUST also follow flashing directions to the letter. This f/w will also help you assign names to each router and each client, even one to the MVP, rather than 192.168.1.1 etc... Anyway that's the story. HTH. k.

At least you can now assign static IP address to your MVP an etc..Ummm ... who are you talking to here exactly? I am also rather confused as to exactly what you're trying to say? k.

Patch did not resolve the unresponsive MVP problem for me. Going to try some other dongles too.

tipstir Wrote:The one that was posted here dongle.bin 1.1.15 works great., I tried the patch it didn't work for me so and revert back to prior gbpvr.exe. Good thing I had backup the two files. You must have got that version number wrong. 1.1.51 maybe? Martin

tipstir Wrote:You! Just be careful when you use other firmware not from Linksys...Sure, it's always good to heed the warnings, and it's always a risk flashing any firmware, even Linksys, although there are "generally" recovery options. However I've flashed it at least 5 times, been running HyperWRT for several years on 3 WRT54G/GS's with no issues, and TBH the benefits are fantastic. YMMV. k.

I am having good luck so far running with the dongle that was included in 99.05 with gbpvr 99.12. So far no unresponsive MVP but more testing before I call it fixed. I don't know the dongle version number that was in 99.05, just that it came with 99.05.

I installed 99.12 a couple of days ago (I went for a fresh XP install first...) and notice no instabillity issues with this dongle. On the contrary! With the original MVP dongle and some other dongles, I always had lot's of disconnects when watching photo's, it was just not usable. With the new dongle, disconnects are completely gone when watching photo's. Great !
