I'm looking for some recommendations on a Desktop PC case. I've been looking for awhile but really can't find any desktop PC cases that fit the bill. It seems as though everything has gone to tower cases (Newegg has 18 desktop cases and 540 mid-tower cases). In this situation, I would like to avoid a tower if possible but might have to resort to that if I can't find anything.

It's for a regular desktop computer and not going to be used for an HTPC so I'm not looking for one with the RCA/IR connectors or screens on front.

Price range: $75+/- or less.
Size: Full ATX.
Color: Black or black & silver.
3.5 bays: at least 1 (2 is even better)
5.25 bays: at least 2
Front connectors: USB 2.0. Headphone/mic nice but not required.

Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks! Smile

You could always get a tower and put it on its side :p

I've got the tower version of this one and am very impressed with it. May be worth reading around on the review sites like tomshardware etc

Haha... yea, I've just never been a big fan of putting CDs in optical drives on their sides especially with nothing that securely holds it in place.

Thanks!

Thanks... yea I did consider that one. The description does say there is an external 3.5 bay but I didn't see it in any of the pictures. Closer inspection does reveal it is labeled.

Antec's NSK2400 is an awesome case, I may be a bias.... It is a desktop pc case that some of use as an HTPC case. It runs VERY quiet and VERY cool.

NSK2400: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6811129014

Also, it shows up in Antec's B stock section every now and then as well.

It's a little more than you want to spend, but this case has rotating drive bays and such so it can be either a tower or a desktop case:

Very good... thanks.

The problem with rowle1jt's is no external 3.5 bay, but good otherwise.

Torque: this is a cool looking case. I haven't seen many that you can use as either a tower/desktop case.

I considered one of these when I was looking. I know you said that you weren't looking or an HTTP case, but this comes close to what you wanted.
It doesn't come with a power supply, but you can usually find a decent price on a supply if you have a frys or something like it.
