Hi there

I have just started to experience a strange problem with LiveTV.

I always use timeshifted mode. When I go to a live program I am finding that the stream is behaving badly in two ways. It keeps going blocky and corrupted, as if the reception is bad, and after a few seconds of playing, the video starts to run very slowly, and goes out of sync with the audio. If I pause the program for a few seconds, the latter problem goes away (at least for a while, sometimes it comes back).

Could this be a mux issue?

If you're using a DVB device, then it could be a mux issue. It could also be caused by the video/audio decoder you're using.

No I'm not, I made sure that there was no other activity on the box while I was trying to troubleshoot the problem.

I have been having MUX/decoder issues. I am yet to find a combination that works in all circumstances. I've been having the most luck with the MPV decoder with Bob turned on. I am using the most recent version of the Cyberlink mux from the mux catalogue at the moment, but I might try using an older one. Any recommendations from anyone?

I've got an update on this. I've been trying to troubleshoot it today. I've tried changing mux and video decoder, but neither of those has fixed it. What I have discovered though is that the problem isn't on all channels. It's on three channels, all of which are on the same multiplexor.

I'm beginning to think that this may be a reception issue, although my cheap freeview box is working fine. I've always found that the reception on my GBPVR box is worse than the freeview box though, as it doesn't pick up all the channels. Has anyone had any experience with signal boosters? I might have a go with something like that if no-one has any other suggestions!

Edit: I bought a signal booster, and that seems to have solved it. It has been very wet here recently, and I think the humidity had affected the signal. As a benefit, I can run my freeview box off the aerial at the same time with this booster, which means I have a backup for any future GBPVR downtime, resulting in a dramatically increased WAF!
