I had GBPVR working great, almost flawless in fact, then my hard drive seemingly crashed (although I am having the same problem with it now so it likely wasn't the hard drive), that being said I quickly wanted to rebuild by machine so I could again enjoy my PVR. Well I have been working on it for 3 weeks now and still cannot get it to work. I can get GBPVR to work with problems (another post) but when I am in GBPVR the remote simply will not work. I think I threw away the original driver disk for the PVR-150 I am using and I believe it had some drivers on it I needed. I downloaded the latest drivers from Hauppage and the IRBlaster drivers (beta) that i believe i was using before, but alas no luck. I have read about every post still no luck. I am running GBPVR 99.12. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AT THE MOMENT. The stupid thing is i had it working just fine. When i configure the remote it shuts off the STB so i know it is working, i just cannot get it to work with GBPVR at the moment.

Does anyone have any clue, or is there a log file i can have someone look at or something that would give you a clue as to what is gong on? Please help

thanks
Erick

Are you talking about the IR blaster (used to change channels on an external set top box), or the IR receiver (used for navigating around the application using your remote)? You mention both above, so it's not clear.

Well suppose both. The remote I am using came with the pvr150 and it will not control either at the moment. it was working fine before the rebuild. when i start up GBPVR the remote will not navigate through the menus, nor will it change the channels on the STB. I am not sure if that is the same problem or multiple problems. i just don't know where to start. i have put new batteries in it so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

For the blaster side of things, did you configure the correct set top box type in the Hauppauge BlastCFG app and confirm it was functioning? If so, you should then have configured your capture source to use the '.exe channel changer' and point it at "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\haupblast.exe".

For the ir receiver side, did you click the 'fix hauppauge remote settings' button in the config app and restart the Hauppauge IR.exe?

I did config the blastcfg and it did shut off the box and turn it back on for the test. I did then go in and config the .exe channel changer.

i also did fix the hauppage remote (45 button), the restart of the ir.exe is the problem though. there wasn't one. i think that was because i didn't have the original disk when i installed it, i just had to pull the driver off the web. i did find an ir32.exe on a forum and installed that and it gave me the option to restart, however i get a "failed to start remote hardware" error when trying to restart it, so i basically just restarted the computer. however after all that the remote still will not work.

Luckily "24" and "American Idol" aren't on at the moment (i know that isn't an issue for some) so it isn't an emergency yet, but sure would like to get it to work. it is so SWEEET when it does!!

That should do it then. Since you remote isnt working because of the problem you describe below, try going into live with the keyboard (not the remote) and changing channels a couple of times. If it doesnt manage to change channels on your set top box, zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Sorry, I cant really help you with that one. GB-PVR needs the Hauppauge IR software to be installed and working for the remote to be able to control GB-PVR. Unfortunately I'm not an expert at installing Hauppauge software, so I cant personally guide you through this particular part of your problems.

i will try that and see what happens. i will also try to "acquire" a copy of the driver disks and see if that helps.

Thanks for the help thus far.

I actually used the driver set from the website, as they were newer than what came in the box. I couldnt get mine working UNTIL I used the drivers from the website.

You need to install the:

WinTV InfaRed Remote program

It also installs the "Hauppauge WinTV services" program whichi believe is needed.

After all that, I installed GBPVR, then clicked on the "dvd and remote" tab and selected under remote control type "(default) Hauppauge"

Then start>programs>Hauppauge WinTV>restart IR

Everything worked fine.

I have the HVR1600 though, but I believe the same remote and blaster come with the card.

No need to "acquire" the driver disks. The drivers are on the hauppauge site. The irremote and blaster programs are there as well. I just went through a complete reload when I upgraded to XP and all of the drivers and accessory programs installed fine.
