Hi,

Is there any web resources or Howtos on he subject of the remotes and the irremote.ini file? I have my remote working up to a point but would like to be able to customise it a bit, learn about how this all sits together and configure the irremote.ini to my specific liking.

Any helpful links or pointers please?

I've got a Hauppauge 45 button remote (Nova T 500).

I'm just looking to be able to customize the remote...for instance use the radio button for something else....make the green power key make the system go to standby when in GBPVR, not just when I have already exited from GBPVR. Make the Go button do something..... (Is the Go button supposed to do something in GBPVR at the moment?)

Is it simply a case of the buttons on the remote are mapped to function keys on the keyboard?

I want to understand the irremote file so I know what its supposed to be doing (it seems a little flaky at the moment)

basically: yes

the file defines actions (keystrokes or otherwise) for the buttons on the remote. these actions can be different for each application, there is a default, and there should be one for GB-PVR.

for the most part the actions are keystrokes, but they can also start programs. for the radio button to do something else you would have to figure out what keystroke will access this something else, usually one of the function keys, then put that keystroke as the action for the radio button. if you like what an action is for the default, you can copy it to the GB-PVR section, or you might be able to leave it blank and it will inherit the action... not sure.

When gbpvr is open, the remote (hauppauge 45 button) works fine but I can't get it to open gbpvr.
I even checked the box in config.
I think I'm forgetting something here.

No, not working the way I want but now have the info to work out how it works and do whatever i need to! (I think)

My daughter was born at 2am the night before last so don't have too much time at present! :-)
