Sub,

Got the new version 1 installed. Excellent! (I did get error 2753, Config.exe during install. I assume because I forgot to close the old version first. I uninstalled .9912 then reinstalled without difficulties).

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to set it up for receiving QAM signals with the HVR-1600 tuner cards (I have two).

I selected "BDA Recording Plugin" for the recording source, then selected "Hauppauge HVR-1600 (QAM)" as the device type. I set the device number to "1" on the first card and "2" on the second card.

Unfortunately, when I try running "Map Digital Channels" it doesn't find any stations, on either card.

I'm very excited to start using QAM. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Anthony

Have you got two HVR1600s? If so, then yes, this effectively the right steps.

Zip and attach your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

I just posted a mini-review of my experiences with this card on the Hardware forum. Sub, where do you want to concentrate these questions?

Try selecting device number 2 on the first card and device number 1 on the second card. I have to do this with my 150's. It'll take a few seconds to do this, so it's worth a shot.

IIRC, I read somewhere that the device number has to do with the PCI Slot closest to the video card slot, not necessarily the first card in the list.

If you have one HVR 1600 they are both device # 1.

You also will need this setting in config.exe

<BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true</BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>

I'm having the same issue. I just have one HVR-1600, and I can see about 8 channels with WinTV (including the obviously always high-def PBS station), but GBPVR says it doesn't detect any channels.

I have it set up the same way: BDA device, QAM, device 1.

<BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true</BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>

was already in my config.xml.

Sub,

Yes, I have two HVR-1600 tuner cards. I've been using the analog portions, but am now trying to set it up to use only the digital side of the cards.

WinTV2000 is erratic, but I can tune several cable channels with it.

Here are my logs.

Thanks,

Anthony

There is nothing really obvious in either of your logs, the device just never seems to lock onto a signal.

What version of the HVR1600 drivers are you running?

Sub, if these broadcasts weren't QAM 256 (say 64) would the scan still work? Mine are all QAM 256.

It should auto detect. Its worth looking into though. Does the Hauppauge WinTV app tell you if the channels it found were QAM256 or other?
