This doesn't seem to be part of the config user interface any longer... Is there a way to set it in the XML file? <StartOnSecondMonitor> is set to true and the old interface loads there, but not the new interface...

Unfortunately, like MCE and Mediaportal etc, having a Direct3D based user interface comes with a few limitations. Hardware acceleration is only available on the primary device, so no option is given to use a secondary device. It's part of the price we way for progress Sad

Sorry, I know this is going cause a few "aaargghh!" moments for people.

I know, but unfortunately not something I had much control over.

Hopefully most affected people will be able to work around it by switch primary/secondary monitor.

I'm going to test with my nVidia drivers and I'll post my results. Problem is that my PC does double duty (GBPVR & Other regular computer stuff). So having the primary be the monitor makes sense because we can watch something while someone else is surfing/etc...

That's a fairly major PITA. That means you really can't use the computer for anything else. I use the computer for normal stuff as well as GB-PVR. I don't want all my apps starting on the TV, which is what will happen if the TV is the primary monitor, won't it? Won't the taskbar, etc. then be on the TV? Looks like I'll be sticking with the old interface...

Hmmmm,

So here's how far I got. I have an nVidia card FX5200. I needed to upgrade to the latest drivers because the window positioning wasn't working on the driver I had. Now using 93.71, released last november.

Once done,

- select nVidia nView desktop manager from control panel.
- On Desktop Management Tab, click the Enable button on nView Desktop Manager.
- Select the Applications Tab then click the Add... button. You will get a dialog with Find and Browse. Click browse and then select PVRX2.EXE from the GBPVR directory and click Ok.
- Highlight PVRX2 in the list it was added to then click the 'Individual Applications' button. Set 'Open Windows on Display' to your TV and Launch Application on Desktop to Last. Click OK to close the dialog, then Ok again to close Desktop Manager.

- Go to GBPVR config and on the first page, select 'Open in Windowed mode' and click OK.

Launch PVRX2 and move the window to your TV, maximize the window and then close it. Restart and it should show on the TV when you start. Yeah!

Ok, now the bad part... because it is in a window, you see the title bar for the window at the top of the TV and it takes away valuable real estate from viewing. The old interface fills the screen...

I'll keep playing to see if there is something else to do. I'm thinking if you were inclined, you could play with the window size instead of maximizing and make the window a little larger than your TV display. Then position the window as off-screen as possible...

Anyone with a better idea?

Sub, is there a way to have a borderless window mode?

Thanks.

Oh yeah... on my machine, every time you exit from the app, it thows a GPF... Smile

Pressing Alt-Enter once on the second screen would most likely full the screen with no border, but I'm sure you'll still get really stuttery playback on the second monitor due to the acceleration issue I mentioned above.

Post the logs and I'll take a look.

Would it be possible to send a command to Windows just before GBpvr is started to make the tv the primary monitor, and than change it back again when GBpvr closes? If there is a command that can be passed through the command prompt or something we could control it with the remote or a batch file that starts GBpvr.
