I'm having problems with GBPVR while recording TV shows. I'll set it up to tape an over-the-air ATSC digital show overnight, and when I come back in the morning, I find the show quit recording partway into the show, and GBPVR's "show status" option still shows it as recording (which actually quit recording many hours ago).

I have two Hauppauge HVR-1600 tuner cards, and am using the DVR-MS mux.

I haven't been able to figure out what causes some shows to record fine, and other's abort. It's been fairly random so far.

I'm losing a lot of shows because of this.

I've attached my logs.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Anthony

See if setting <BDADisableStatusChecks>true</BDADisableStatusChecks> helps.

FWIW, I've been having the same problem (I think). The recording service crashes but the tray icon shows the ATSC show still being recorded. I didn't see anything in the logs. I have a Fusion5 card. I'll try this setting and see if it helps.

Can you check the Windows Event Viewer to see any messages generated at the time the recording service crashes?

It crashed last night after I made the change you suggested. The event viewer shows an application error with this info:

Faulting application GBPVRRecordingService.exe, version 1.0.2743.31033, faulting module PsiParser.ax, version 0.1.0.0, fault address 0x0000b184.

I'm using the Microsoft mux.

I've had some antenna issues lately...could low signal strength have something to do with this?

I'll be out of town for a few days so won't be able to follow up until I get back.

Thanks for looking into it.

It is low signal problem, I had the same issue (search for psiparser.ax to see relevant threads). I fixed it by raising my antenna, which eliminated poor signal issues. I still get it every now and then, but only rarely.

For a quick fix you can set <BDAUsePsiParser>false</BDAUsePsiParser> in config.xml, but you'll need to remember to set it back to try if you need to scan for channels in future.

Its basically saying it doesnt like something in the stream. Its possible its a bit of corruption due to poor signal, though more likely some logic flaw in my code which is happend due to some unexpected sequence of data - , but its hard to guess what data that would be exactly.

Sub,

I just changed the two settings you mentioned in config.xml and will keep an eye on things over the next day or two. I'll let you know if the problems persist.

> Can you check the Windows Event Viewer

How would I do that?

> It is low signal problem

Is there a way to check signal strength in GBPVR?

Thanks,

It'll only help if you have the same messages in the Windows Event Viewer as zed above, specifically identifying the faulting module as PsiParser.ax.

The Windows Event Viewer can be access in the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools

Sub,

I just checked the event viewer, and it looks like I was receiving similar errors when the recordings failed:

"Faulting application gbpvrrecordingservice.exe, version 1.0.2743.31033, stamp 00000023, faulting module psiparser.ax, version 0.1.0.0, stamp 45be4d97, debug? 0, fault address 0x0000c084"

So hopefully, the config.xml changes will remedy the problem.
