The subject line should have been: zap2xml missing new episode indicator
I upgraded to GBPVR 1.0.16 and I am using:
XMPTV, Zap2xml, XRecord
Zap2xml allows me to use a free Zap2it listings, but I no longer get the new episode indication (*).
Is this because Zap2xml doesn't include the original air date. or do I just have something configured
wrong?

This epg scraper seems to work reliablly, unlike those that use yahoo. Too bad that it is missing the episode number and first showing date. I assome since no one replies, that not many have tried it.

It shouldn't be too hard to fix. Since Zap2It has the "NEW" icon for new episodes, it's possible for zap2xml to parse it in the on_span sub.

Expect more since Yahoo might now be gone, or at least on hiatus. Once I got past the shock of no gui  it worked great.

This would be perfect, if it did include the "New" indicator and the
"unique_identifer" which provides the episode number. My concern is that "zap2xml" is written for a different product (non GBPVR) so I am not sure that it's author would provide these things. I also don't know what xml name needs to be used by zap2xml in it's xml data that would allow XMLTV plugin to "see" them.

Now that I examine the xml database created by zap2xml, I see that perhaps the data is there.
<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00017617.0231</episode-num>
this would be season 2 episode 31, or 231.
and some records contain a empty record:
<new />
which I assume means that this episode is NEW.
So maybe I am not set up correctlly?

You would need to do some type of post processing of the file to add the new show marker if the <new /> tag exists.

The above episode-num means its the 231st episode.

Yea, I could write a program to check for <new /> and if so append the * to the series name, and extract the episode number from
<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00017617.0231</episode-num>
and prefix the episode name with the episode number, but if I just have it installed wrong, I want to know that. That's why I started this thread. I suspect that I do have it installed wrong.

I don't think it's installed/configured wrong. Jim's I-XMLTv utility was the only one that appended the "*" as a new show marker. Dan (-Oz-) and I added it to our output (YahooXMLTv and YApi2XML) because Jim had been away andwe weren't sure if he would be able to get caught up on all our changes before the new season started. It's most likely not written into the Zap2XML code to do it.

Well, perhaps I will write something to change the xml fields myself then. I used the YApi2XML and it worked OK, but YAHOO doesn't have a listing for my provider in my area, so I had to choose a listing that matched the channels but had to be remapped. That works but GBPVR doesn't sort them the way I expected, so I have a hard time finding the channel I want to see in the EPG. Then also Yahoo started to fail often. Zap2XML seems to be more reliable, or I should say, Zap2it seems to be more reliable, and it has listing for my provider and location.
