my GBPVR setup is getting close to perfection.
dealing with one problem at a time, I am almost there.

next up is the choppy HD playback.

it was cleaner using dvr-ms, but due to other problems, I have switched to the cyberlink mux.
I am thinking of trying intervideo, but figured I would ask this first.

it is choppier on client 1 than it is on client 2
digital recordings, and the lower quality HD record/play just fine.
its just the high quality HD.

client 1 has a Athlon64 3200+ with 1gig of RAM and a geforce 6200 AGP video card mounted to a Nforce3 motherboard.
when I built that PC, PCIe motherboards were on the shelf, but I thought it was just a fad (like PCIx was).
I am now kicking myself for that decision.
is that PC strong ehough to play that??

I am also wondering if my server is strong enough to record HD.
it is a AthlonXP 2100+ with 1.5gig of RAM.
the system drive is IDE ata100, but the recording drives are SATA 150.

another "what if" is the network. is a 10/100 network enough to send HD through to the clients??

I do 95% of my watching from client 1, but client 2 is also choppy with HD, but not as much.
it is a Athlon64 3700+ with 1gig of RAM and a geforce 6600 PCIe video card.

playing with the decoders, GPL works best on client 1 and the Nvidia decoder works better on client 2.

Since we dont have HD here, I'm certainly no expect on this, but from what I've read the dvr-ms mux seems to perform best for HDTV content. If you want to stick with the Cyberlink mux, you could try different versions of it, but remember to deregister the old one. It'll alway use the first Cyberlink mux listed in MuxChecker.

I wouldnt bother trying the Intervideo mux - it sucks.

the DVR-MS always created a dummy file, and the show was in another file appended with "-1"
that prevented the ability to play the file from the recordings menu.
if that could be avoided, I could probably deal with the other problems.

Do a recording then zip and attach the logs and I'll see if I can see the cause.

If its not already, you could try setting <BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true</BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord> in config.xml

I've had that same problem for awhile, and the change in the config.xml hasn't helped. I think I need a BDASubmitTuningRequestThriceOnRecord Wink

You can watch the shows out of the Recording Menu if you add a the directory with all of your recordings. I wrote a batch file that goes through the drive and fixes all of the shows every night.

And by batch file, I mean perl script.

And by wrote, I mean, I'm going to and currently I do it by hand everynight.

What motherboard is in your recording system? Mine is a Asus A7V333. I think perhaps it is putting my tuner to sleep, or something along those lines.

I dont think the tuner is going to sleep on mine.
if I try to view live TV through it, it puts up a signal meter with strength at full, and quality at empty.
after a few seconds, they switch to full quality and no strength.
then the video starts.

I have the them accessable through video library, but it is not convienent.
I have thought about a script to change the names, then run comskip afterwords.
