Sorry for the confusing story.
My first attempt:
I just upgraded from a 99.XX version of GBPVR to 1.0.16 now I am not able to connect to my MVP server I am also not able to run PVRX2 because the PC is not VMR9 compatible. When I power cycle the MVP it goes through the network verification and then it just sits trying to connect to the MVP server.
Now the rest of the story.
Given the above problems and desire to get down to 1 PC, when this happened (the update to1.0.16 and loss of functionality) I decided it would be a good time to migrate my HTPC from an old junker PC to my new Dell running Vista. So I moved my PVR150 to the new computer and installed GBPVR (1.0.16). I was able to get the new PVRX2 version up and running but again I was not able to get the MVP working.
I have tried a handful of the obvious things like rebooting, I tried installing the Hauppauge MVP software. None of these efforts worked.

I currently have my config set up to launch 1 MediaMVP server using the mvpmc.bin dongle file.

Am I missing something really obvious?
Is there some alteration I need to make in order to get Vista to let the MVP connect to it? Disable the UAC or Windows Firewall?
In the old GBPVR it opened a little window and had a little instance of GBPVR for the MVP server, the new version does not seem to have this. Has this been integrated or am I doing something wrong?
I am sorry if this is a repost but I was not able to find any concise explanation of how to get the MVP working with Vista. I appreciate any help.
I didn't think attaching a log file would help as GBPVR seems to be working fine (and I don't know how to get the log file). If a log file will help a brief explanation of where it is and what I should do to make it useful would be great.
Thanks
Wyatt

I suspect it will be the Windows firewall getting in the way, since several other users had the same problem when they first upgraded to an 1.x release. I'm not at home in front of my Vista machine for the next week or so, so unfortunately cant give you the exact details of what you need to set in Vista. The basic idea is to let PVRX2.exe have access to the network so see if you can find the settings to do that.

Thanks for the advice. By fixing the firewall to allow pvrx2 and opening the ports I was able to get passed the trying to connect screen.
Now I get the mvpmc.org logo but no further. I tried using the original dongle.bin file and as expected it starts up and works but only for a few actions then it dies.
There was one posting about this mvpmc.org logo. I need to go read up. I think I will reply to that thread.

After much trouble, I tried the most recent nightly build found here http://www.mvpmc.org/builds/
and what was choppy and unsuccessful now works. I also seem to have better luck when I unplug the MVP for a few seconds, plug it back in and wait 15 seconds then restart the recording service. I have no idea why this works but I get better results.
When I got the mvpmc logo it did take a long while and hitting the 'go' button did seem to speed things up unless it just seemed that way.

Sub,
As a side note I am able, to the best of my knowledge, get my MVP stable with the 1.1.54 dongle file. It seems to work fine although I haven't try to run it for a long time. In any case I was able to watch live TV.
The only thing that was a little wierd,
I have been storing my videos on an older PC with a giant PATA drive that won't work in my new PC. When I run PVRX2 on the PC it recognizes all of the recorded videos on that drive. When I go to the MVP it does not see any videos. I was also not able to watch live TV while I was having it buffer and record to the network drive. I figure this must have something to do with security and how the MVP PVRX2 is trying to talk to the other PC. This is not a huge deal, I just thought I would mention it.

I'm not recommending anything after the 08/30 nightly because of other reports of problems, so it is interesting that you find it works better. The actual emulation mode code hasn't changed, but the new build might work if there are slight time sync problems in the file. The trouble is the new code is also more resource intensive and it really messes up the mini-guide and on high bitrate files

It just seems that way. The remote control drivers aren't even loaded until mvpmc loads. Its probably like me on the computer, I spin the mouse when I wait and it seem like it goes faster.

My story is quite similar to the first post in this thread...

I am running Vista Home Premium

I just upgraded from a 99.12 version of GBPVR to 1.0.16 now I am not able to connect to my MVP server. When I power cycle the MVP it goes through the network verification and then it just sits trying to connect to the MVP server eventually saying it can't find a streaming media server.

*In the old GBPVR it opened a little window and had a little instance of GBPVR for the MVP server, the new version does not seem to have this. Has this been integrated or am I doing something wrong?
-There was no responce to this in the previous replys...has this been integrated?? I didn't see anything under Services...

Here's what i've done:
Seeing as all other posts I have read it's been a firewall issue:
I was running ZoneAlarm previously and it worked fine.
-I added pvrx2 as allowed. No luck.
-I turned off Zone alarm and Windows Firewall on and added pvrx2, still nothing.
-Turned off zone alarm completely as well as verified Windows Firewall is definitly off. No juice.

I uninstalled 1.0.0.16 and reinstalled 0.99. My MediaMVP saw the server, and the mvpmc dongle that i'd installed per 1.0.0.16 instructions came up, and all worked fine. Noting that ZoneAlarm was on.

Installed 1.0.0.16 and once again it's not connecting.

I'm about at my whit's end!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I read about using the newer builds and did have some luck with the earlier builds but after a reformat and reinstall of Vista, this was no longer true. I was frustrated and figured, what the heck and am surprised it actually works. How long? Who knows but I wish they would come up with a good 'final' build soon.

In the config program on the MVP tab you have to tell it how many servers to auto-start. From task manager you will see the PVRX2 instances when you Show processes from all users.
