Hi

I have a problem with some channels in the TV guide. After a few test it seems that when I have a recurring program scheduled on a specific time slot, if the channel decide to change the TV guide to something else, at the next EPG update, I still see my old pending and old TV guide instead of the new one. It is rare but it happened especially for a few specialized channels updating their TV guide at the last minute (one or 2 days before) instead of 2 weeks in advance. I recently move from zap2it to Schedule direct (like everybody) and I have the same problem. I reported the problem to Schedule direct but they told me that the raw file is OK for the problem I pointed out.

My best guess is a matter of priority during the EPG update. If you download the pending before and reload it after then the old pending override the new one? But I’m not sure because sometimes it is OK. So I’m lost. The homemade solution for the moment is to cancel the recurring TV show involves. Then to run EPG update. Finally to re-enter the recurring and/or one time show if required. After that the TV guide is OK and the pending as well. But I have to be careful every day on those channels because I never know if the TV guide is OK in GB-PVR.

I using version 1.0.16 of GB-PVR.

Thanks in advance

When it does an automated epg update, and you have the 'complete EPG reload' option enabled, it does the following steps:

1) download new listings (ready for processing, but not actually processed)
2) delete all pending season recordings episodes (leaving only the one-off recordings, and the first/master season recordings)
3) delete any shows not referenced by recording (ie, only shows referenced by a one-off recording or the master season recording record)
4) import new listings
5) look for an schedule any season recording episodes

I try to understand. May be it is easier with an example that occurred last
week. First of all, I have the 'complete EPG reload' option enabled.

On a channel I have a recurring TV program on Tuesday at 8 PM. 2 days before
the show the channel change the show time to Friday night on zap2it and
Schedule direct (I verified). Then, like every day at 5 PM, the automatic
EPG update ran without any change in GB-PVR. I tried myself a manual EPG
update with the same result. The old pending is still on Tuesday at 8 PM + I
have a new one on Friday. There is a new TV program (according to zap2it) on
Tuesday at 8 PM but I have the wrong TV guide on my system. If I want that
new program, the good news, I will have it but with the wrong name on
Tuesday night. If I want to know the real TV guide for this specific time
slot on this channel I have to visit an internet web site.

To solve that problem last week. I deleted the recurring entry for the
Tuesday program. Then I ran the EPG update manually. Then I set a recurring
on Tuesday with the good name on the TV guide for the new show. Finally I
reprogram the old TV program on Friday. It worked perfectly but it is very
time consuming. On this specific channel (and a few others) with a lot of
change in the TV guide every week this is a nightmare. But again, I lost
nothing so far. So this is not a critical issue but with a lot of that it is
difficult to manage my recordings because the name of recording and real
recording don't match.

Based on the logic you explained my understanding is because we keep one
entry of the recurring on step 2 with the first/master season recording, on
step 4 when we load the new listing, the time slot may be already in use
then we drop the new TV guide for this time slot. On step 5 we reschedule
the show on Friday as well. May be a way to avoid that would be to keep the
master season recording without a time slot then to reapply this master to
the new listing (but you know your system more than myself!).

Thanks again for your time and your ideas!
