I am a new user of GB-PVR and I am running into problems with video. Specifically, I don't see any video of Live TV or Recorded media when using PVRX2 or any of the VMR9 settings in GBPVR. This matches the known issue with GeForce video cards.

However, I have a GeForce 4 420 Go in a laptop. NVidia says that for this card, I must contact Toshiba for a driver update (as the drivers have specific changes to other software on the laptop). Toshiba has not updated this driver since 2003, and I really doubt that they are going to ever do so again. I did try to download and install the latest NVidia drivers anyway, but the installation program said that no compatible hardware was found.

Next issue is that I am going to be shuffling hardware/software around soon so that this troublesome laptop is a client of another machine instead of using its own tuner. This other machine will have real hardware in it and support running PVRX2 (or else).

Questions:
1) Any chance of PVRX2 working on the laptop?
2) Can I mix both PVRX2 and GBPVR as client/servers?
3) How long until GBPVR is no longer updated/supported?

Thanks
Mark

you could try older drivers from nvidia (as not the latest but still newer)
have you had gbpvr.exe running on the laptop (video playback)
i am thinking that maybe the laptop is a bit past it as far as direct3d goes though but give it go

2 the download at present comes with both gbpvr and pvrx2 and yes you can run gbpvr.exe on the client with 10016

3 sub will have to answer that for you

3) No new features have been added to GBPVR.exe since February. I'll probably continue to include it with the distribution for the next release, but remove it from all future release.

Yes, gbpvr.exe does work with the VMR7 and Ovleray Manager settings. The laptop does support Direct3d, but I know what you mean by being a little past its prime.

What I am going to do is to use gbpvr.exe on the laptop, pvrx2 on the other machine and try to keep this going for as long as possible.
