Well, I have finally got around to it, and now have a prototype that works. I can wake my computer from the MVP!
Iâve built a little circuit that monitors the video output of the MVP and asserts a Ring signal to the serial port when there is an active video output. If the BIOS is set to wake-on-ring, turning on the MVP will wake the computer.
There is, of course, the small problem of the computer going into standby while playing recordings on the MVP, so Iâve also written a little app that monitors the ring signal, and when active denies suspend requests, thereby keeping the PC awake. Turning the MVP off deactivates the ring signal, and my app allows suspend to function as normal :-)
