Hi

I'm currently experimenting with skinning and have a question regarding making some screen elements slightly transparent so that the underlying background shows through vaguely.

In skin files the buttons are drawn as rectangles with rounded corners.

In many skin files it is possible to have a rounded rectangle which is one colour when selected and another when unselected. In this way the button can be made to light up etc when it is selected.

I have found parameters which affect general transparency so that all buttons can be slightly transparent but this is not quite the effect I'm looking for.

Is it possible to set the skin so that an unselected button's rectangle is slightly transparent whereas a selected button is completely opaque?

I'm skinning for version 99.12 (if that makes a difference).

I dont really know, after about 8 months of not looking at GBPVR.exe I've already forgot lots of this type of stuff. If your skin is using images for the buttons, then you could try creating PNG images that have a transparency level. If its using a vector graphics via the DrawRoundedRect etc, then you could try specifying colours with an alpha channel, ie "#AARRGGBB".

The PVRX2 skinning engine in 1.x is much better in this respect.

Many thanks sub.

I hadn't considered making the button from an image file.

I was content to use the draw rectangle command. I will experiment. Using an image file should do the trick. I will also try your AA alpha channel parameter.

Has it really been 8months since v1.0 was released? Time flies.

No, but its 8 months since I release v0.99.12 and I started working on 1.0, which was about four/five months before it was released as 1.0.8.

Hi sub

Your fine idea of using the alphachannel worked a treat. I needed to set the #AARRGGBB value to #A0000000 to give me a semi-transparent black. More like a smokey dark grey colour really. I had to set the rectangle border width to 0 for best effect but it is just the effect I was looking for.

Many thanks.
