choppy playback on client-pcs

hi,

using client file-sharing or streaming i get a very choppy livetv playback (no matter if i use an xp or vista client). recordings are playing smooth. server pc is on xp.
network (cable not wireless) is working perfectly.

How fast is your LAN? You're using Switches or Hubs? Full- or Halfduplex transmission?

At home i am using 3 PCs and one Laptop via 1Gb-LAN. With this i can stream from the server to 2 PCs and one Laptop simultaneous without problems.

it's not the lan.

just tested using vista as server. streaming works fine with vista as server.
it's the same machine as the xp-server (using dual boot)

need the xp-server though, because mvp is having problems with vista-server (remote stopps responding).
