song information in Net Radio

Maybe a stupid question... but how can see the info about which song/artist is playing on net radio? :o

It doesnt currently show this. It knows the info, but its not displayed anyway.

If/when you add this back in, would it be possible to have a 'ticker' type of display for song/artist?

In past versions when the info was available, a lot of the time it would fit OK but some would get truncated. I can't remember whether you used to display artist or title first, but there were a few occasions when listening on the MVP, when I heard something for the first time but the details were truncated so I couldn't get the full info. in order to track the song down.

Sorry - that was kind of a Wishlist question wasn't it.

Yeah - I was wondering about that.

How about separate lines for song/artist or perhaps a single line which alternates (maybe 2-3 seconds) between the two?

Because this is audio I think there'd be lots of bandwidth, along the lines of the beautiful new cell-phone type text entry in the search windows. You could probably do several updates a second.

Several updates a second would still look pretty sucky. In my opinion its only worth doing animations if it can be super smooth. Otherwise its probably just better to find another way to present the info.

I support the 'present in a proper way' in stead of some kind of animation, that would probably look like an ugly screen flicker. In general I find tickers annoying - especially if there is space to write the whole text in the first place.

It should be possible (by the server) to precalculate and if needed dynamically resize the space to fully show whatevertext per song.
