I am having some issues mapping my QAM channels to my EPG.

I have scanned for QAM with GB-PVR's channel mapper and it found a lot of signals. The problem is the ones that I know are the actual tv channels look like this:
This makes it really hard to figure out which channel is which especially since I don't think I have my mux's all setup correctly yet so its hard to tune some of the channels.

I saw in another thread that TSReaderLite would also show you the channels. So I used that and sure enough it matched what the HDHomeRun website said it should. Anyway, here's an example of the export of one of the files for a block of channels I want to tune. I want 106.1, 106.2,106.3. As this file shows:
http://www.oztheory.com/qam/106.htm
They do exist and indeed do tune via QAM in the HVR-1600. The problem is associating them.

Is there a way to get the Digital Channel remapper to give me something more like 106.1 106.2 etc? It gives me things like 76.1 Unknown1 (000) and 76.1 Unknown1 (000(AC3)) which are SD channels I can tune (http://www.oztheory.com/qam/76.htm) but for the HD channels in 105 and 106 they're the 0(00... thing.

If i can't get the digital channel remapper to is there a way to use the information from TSReader to write my own tuning requests?

Thanks Sub and everyone else who's got QAM working.

QAM users fare worst than the DVB-T/C/S and ATSC users on the mapping screen since only some cable networks seem to transmited the "CVCT" which gives channel names and minor/major numbers.

There may not be anything I can do to help you, but delete the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\bda\*.cache files, then start the config app and try to do the scan, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log files.

here's the logs with a fresh scan

by looking through the logs I'm starting to be able to see how I can associate the TSReader settings with what GB-PVR sees, the PMT PID seems to be the same between the two so by looking and seeing what the log called each tuning request PMT:XX where XX or XXX is the PMT PID number and matching that with what TSReader showed I can figure out which is which.

Maybe this will help you sub:
The Tuning request for what should be channel 105.2 is the following:
105,1008,0~P:2~V:64~A:65~PMT:103~PCR:64~N:>0 (000(AC3)) #3

if it could take the fact that it knows its 105 and then use the P:2 it would get 105.2

this actually works with everything I've found so far. the P: is also found in <service_ID>

Code:
<service>
  <service_name></service_name>
  <TSID>419</TSID>
  <service_ID>3</service_ID>
  <service_type>0</service_type>
  <pmt_PID>103</pmt_PID>
  <pcr_PID>64</pcr_PID>
  <video_PID>64</video_PID>
  <major_channel_number>1008</major_channel_number>
  <minor_channel_number>0</minor_channel_number>
  <audio_PID lang="000" audio_type="0" AC3="true">65</audio_PID>
</service>
The problem seems to be caused by the cable network transmitting dubious CVCT for those couple of frequencies.

Try the attached patch. It ignores this channel number, so you should get channels like 106.1 Unknown1 (000(AC3)) for these channels.

it gets me part way there, I now get at least the channel number, so i get 105.0 but they are all 105.0 but they're obviously different feeds.

Unless you want to fix it for everyone no need to worry though, I hand tuned all the channels now.

You must have Comcast ;-)

I ran into the same problem. I used TSReader to find the channels I wanted. It is easier to read the gbpvr cache file than the log, as you have one line for each channel. You can cut and paste these into the tuning request in the config, and all is well. I beleive everything after N: is the name, so you can change this to something that means something to you.

I'll have to try this patch that Sub made available.

Without doing this, then the preview in config always showed the first instance of the useless channel name, and it was impossible to preview other streams.

It would be nice to have a special live tv mode that allows you to browse available channels. so you could go to channel 100 and .1 would be first Qlearquam channel found on that frequency and .2 would be the second. etc.
When there are no more ClearQAM on a mux It will go to the next channel. (This would obviously only work on up channel and down channel buttons.)

Perhaps a Save feature that will save the channel and ask for a name to save it under. If you find it to be a fixed channel you can then add in in the channel configs from the saved channel list.

This would make us Qam users happier.

I also found the Silcondust site useful. It found all the channels on my Comcast, in terms of 125.1108 (example), but not the actual tuning parameters. For many of these un-named channels, they were able to present a local channel call letters, which helps, as well as a thumbnail.

Now if you go to the cache file, you can match up the 125 and the 1108, and then copy and paste the tuning information into the config. Beats typing.
