After playing for many hours I have now successfully set up a home theater PC that can control a coolsat 5000 flawlessly using the supplied IR blaster on a WinTV-PVR-500 MCE.
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/...00mce.html

all you need is HIP and HIPSEND.
http://www.byremote.com.au/downloads/def...SCLASS=HIP

No Coolsat ccf files needed, simply teach HIP "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0"

I was also able to use the latest remote drivers for the MCE as I tricked HIP in to mapping a different remote and thus can use the GBPVR MCE remote settings without the double click problem everyone has.

All my remote buttons work including page up and page down in guide. I tried the hacked driver for the MCE and hated it because many buttons did not work and I could not login to my computer with remote so this is awesome!!

If you have a Coolsat and winpv with IR blaster I want you to know that it works fine to change the Coolsat and I have zero missed or wrong input channels and I feel confident that live channel surfing and guide recording send the correct data to the sat and changes correctly with 100% accuracy.

Hip is a remarkable free tool to learn remote inputs and pass them on to the IR blaster.

I removed the tape on the IR bean and simply stuck it to the right of the clock and the IR is not weak as many have stated....

The trick is to input the delay timing when you set the capture source.

During my initial failures I was about one day away from buying a UIRT - USB for $60. No need now as imy wintv IR blaster does the job in flying colors.

It's been changing and recording dozens of channels for hours hours without one bad input. Big Grin

Yeehaw!!!!

Cool that you got it to work with HIP.

Can HIP work with the non-MCE Hauppauge cards, like the PVR-150? Hauppauge refuses to implement the learning feature in their IR Blaster config, even though the latest beta has had that feature, it doesn't do anything and they haven't touched it. Very frustrating.
