I have a MCE 150 (capture source #1), MCE 150 with composite in, an HVR 1600 QAM, but when I tried to install the HVR 1600 analog, it won't work.

When I try to install it, I check 'only show devices detected' and I got a list of PVR150mce, 1500MCE, HVR 1600 analog. I chose the 1600 analog, direct plugin, and capture source #1. It took this but when I go and run pvrx2 livetv only has sound and a black screen. I went back and re-did it for capture source #2 and it says I don't have the correct drivers installed. What am I doing wrong? Should I switch the capture sources (flip flop them) between the 150MCE and 1600 (make 1600 #1 and 150 #2)?

It should be device #1. Both the 1600 and 150 are device #1. The numbers only increase if you have multiple devices using the same drivers.

What video decoder do you have selected on the playback tab?

I have intervideo selected. I tried putting it to #1 but I get no picture, just sound.

Have you tried a decoder other than the intervideo decoder?

I haven't tried it in the two analog card mode. I will try cybervideo with the two cards.

Same problem with the cybervideo decoder. No picture, just sound. HDTV channels on the QAM side are working fine.

Where should I look at next?

If I pause livetv, the picture comes back, but it goes dark as soon as I switch channels. Maybe the problem is with one of the two tuners and when I pause it switches to the working one. I don't know. Have you ever heard of this type of thing happening?

I just tried recording 2 analog channels (at the same time) and the recordings went fine. This is really weird. The problem only happens on livetv

The 1600 looked 100x better than the 150 for some reason. The 150 has always had ghosting and other types of interference..but I digress.

HELP!

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I switched the tuner priority to put the HVR1600 analog first. When I first went to livetv, I got a black screen as before but I also got a quality 100% signal 0% box. After about 12 seconds and some random channel changing everything was working again. I confirmed that (by pulling the coax) pvrx2 was now using the 150 MCE tuner. I believe it gave up on the HVR1600 analog tuner because it was not initializing or producing a signal.

I would still like to know what happened because I like the 1600's signal better (when it works). The problem is definitely on livetv because recorded tv works fine.

Here are the logs:
