Hey all,

I'm running into a problem trying to do live TV playback of QAM ATSC content from my HVR-1600. I'm running in a client/server setup and when I select a HD channel from the guide it begins recording properly and the .ts file shows up as expected in the buffer folder. I can play the .ts file in Zoom Player and I can even copy the file and play it from the video section of PVRX2. The problem is that when I try to play it live I get this error in the log:

2008-03-18 20:09:16.114 ERROR [1] Unexpected error: System.Exception: Failure playing back file

I'm running in streaming mode and analog channels seem to work fine so I'm not sure what the issue is.

I've attached my log file and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Ryan

You are going to have problems with this, and I dont really have any solution for you. At the moment the client/server streaming stuff is only really designed to work with .mpg files. Unfortunately using the Cyberlink or ATI mux, which generate .mpg files, can be a bit hit or miss with ATSC/QAM video.

The .ts and .dvr-ms files generated by the other muxes are not compatible.

sub,

Thanks for the information. Are there any plans to support .ts or .dvr-ms streaming with the client/server model in the future? I'd be more than happy to offer any help I could (testing, etc).

As for the Cyberlink or ATI mux to mpg, does "hit or miss" means it works for some shows/channels and not others or does it mean it is just tough to get working but ok once you do?

Thanks again,
Ryan

Yes, I do intend to more with client/server support, including adding .ts support, but I couldnt tell you when that will be. I couldnt promise it'll happen in the next few months - too busy with other stuff and my day job.

Some have had it working ok, but serveral other people that tried got stuttering video.
